There Are No Muses In Writing!
What the hell is up with writers talking about how their "muses" won't allow them to write anymore? Like these fucking mystical faeries produce their story ideas or something. It annoys the fuck out of me because it totally takes away credit/responsibility of the author.
Meaning if the fic is great and people love it then don't thank me! Thank the mystical faerie muse that gave me the idea and commanded my fingers to type the words that they implanted into my brain. And if the fic sucks? Same thing! Not my fault! Blame the muse.
More often I see authors saying that the evil muse is responsible for their lack of writing. That's bullshit. You can't write because you don't have the drive or the ideas or the time or you're like me and are just fucking lazy. But it's not some make believe imaginary creature from Greek myth that's causing the writer's block.
It's all you.
ETA: And I do realize people don't really believe in having a muse, the sane ones at least, and just say that because they think it's cute or they can't quite explain the intangible and strange way writing works with the sudden formation of ideas and words and dialogue in your head but dude... I so don't find it cute. Drives me fucking batty. B-a-t-t-y. Goddamn fake muses.
