Death Note Movies
I finally saw both Death Note live action movies and I liked them quite a bit. Per usual, I was upset with the ending but that's because of a strange love for the evil Light. I wish they hadn't cut out his masterful seduction and love affair with Kiyomi Takada but it was super cool to see Misa Misa and him locked up in isolation after he planned their loss of memory so they could prove their "innocence" as the respective Kira 1 & 2. The one actual complaint that I have and it's such a fucking petty one is this...
I don't find live action Light attractive. At all.
Yes! I told you petty! But Light is supposed to be this hot genius whom women fall for and guys want to be and somehow that makes him more tolerable in the fact he's evil megalomaniac that is serial killing people and sees himself as the god of justice or whatever. Tatsuya Fujiwara who plays him? So not looking like that guy to me.
Anyway, here's a pix to judge for yourself.

Kenichi Matsuyama who plays L looks freakishly like his character. Enough that it disturbs me just a little. If any of you haven't read/watched/heard of Death Note then please check the series out. Here's a LINK to the Wikipedia entry on the series. Don't read too far or it gets into spoilers though. But that should explain far better than I what the series is all about and why it is so very awesome. Oh hell, wait, it's not that hard to explain.
Ryuk, a Shinigami or God of Death, drops his Death Note and Light Yagami, a good looking brilliant if somewhat bored college student picks it up. Anyone whose name is written in the Death Note dies. Light finds this out and extent of the Death Note's powers with Ryuk's help and decides to start making the world a better place by killing off all the criminals. If your name is written down and no specific form of death is listed with it then you die of a heart attack. Soon all these heart attack dead criminals attract the interest of the police and they start investigating the killings with a mysterious detective named L who vows to catch Kira which is what the general populace has named Light's alter ego, many of which, consider him god.
Then the chase is on as Light and L try to outsmart each other and yada yada... it's really good people, so read/watch it! I haven't watched the anime yet but maybe I'll give it a download. Unlike the movies it probably has more leeway and follows the manga plot exactly. Which would kick ass since the manga is so great.
