I've been on many an interview lately and the latest was with the recruiter for US Bank and then three members of the local human resources team for the midwest region. To be totally immodest, I kick ass at interviews. I always have. I don't know why but I do really well at them and I never get freaked out about going on them. Probably because 9 out of 10 times I'm always offered the job. After interviewing at US Bank I was told they would forward my resume to the banks that are looking for full time tellers and my heart sort of fell because I was like, "Right. Forward it." I heard similar stuff before and even though I KNEW I interviewed well and they liked me I doubted I would hear from anyone about the teller position.

But today I went on yet another interview, this one for the furniture or beverage lead at World Market where, again, I did well and I'm supposed to set up another interview with their DM tomorrow but as I walk out of that interview I check my cell phone and there's three messages. One from Michi asking me to pick up dog food for Missy, one from my mom asking about when we're going out for dinner for her birthday, and one from Jenny the manager of a US Bank that's right by my house in the city. I call Jenny back and now I have an interview with her on Thursday of next week. It's taking a long time to set up that because she's out of town until then and although she had an assistant manager she wants to do all the hiring herself.

I'm really excited about this though. If I get a job with US Bank I can apply my education in both computers and in law for a lot of different jobs. Including the mortgage department. Also, they offer tuition reimbursement, they have great benefits, they have kick ass hours Mon-Fri 8 am until 6 pm and Saturday 9 am until noon. My god! That's SO much better than what I work in retail. And the stress is infinitely less than in retail because you're not selling shite as a teller in a bank. You're just setting up the money orders and all that other crap.

Ahhhh. I so want this job. I would be paid well, have good hours, and I could go back to school. On Monday I have another interview but this one is with St. Louis Family Courts where I'm going to do an internship with their mentoring program. I also need to set up an interview with Voices For The Children a free legal charity for children's rights that I want to do some work for.

I bought the new Shakira and Thrice cds today along with my mom's birthday presents. I got her the new best of Tina Turner cd and two of these collectible ornaments she gets every year. My family has the tradition where every year a family member picks out one ornament and that way they all have special meaning or something. My parents started it when they got married so their first Christmas as husband and wife they had two ornaments on the tree. We have a picture of that tree and it's pretty damn funny to see like... tons of tinsel and lights but two ornaments. lol. Anyway, I know she'll be like, "I only get one ornament!" And all that but I'm going to tell her the second one is mine. She likes those Hallmark collectible things so much I had to get them for her.

Tomorrow I'm supposed to be taking her out to dinner and we're going to hang out at the botanical gardens and few other places. I don't know if she wants it to just be me and her or if I can take Michi along. I really want to bring Michi just because... I don't know. They get along and I like that they get along plus that's someone else to bug Pip at work. Hee. We're so going in the Japanese gardens to bother her!

Oh yeah. My peeps at Vintage Vinyl hooked me up with Punk Chartbusters Volume 3 which is yet another kick ass collection of punk cover songs and it has this excellent version The Freshman by Mustard Plug and I must share it. But to really get how good this version is you should listen to the original by Verve Pipe first. Seriously, I love this cover. It's really upbeat but the song lyrics are so sad that the song still somehow is melancholy despite the excellent horn section added in.

And because Sulky's avatar of Helacious has inspired me I did a little manipulation for my favorite would be couple in L Word S3. Check it out here:

And yes, yes, I made it into an avatar as well. If you want to use it for yourself you can snatch it off my website here:

But please, save it to your harddrive and upload it yourself. Don't link my website. My puny bandwidth begs this of you.
