I finally bought The Simpsons: Season 7 and I'm in the process of watching all the episodes with commentary, because I looooove The Simpsons commentary because everyone who works on that show are really fucking hilarious and tell great stories about working on the show and just telling great anecdotal stories period. Anyway, disc one has two of the best songs featured in the series run I think. Which is saying a lot since The Simpsons has some pretty kick ass music and because of my sudden recollection of that I've just created a brand new iPod playlist for the show. Yay!
But the first great song from season seven is a church cover of the Iron Butterfly song Innagaddavida courtesy of the genius of Bart from the episode Bart Sells His Soul. I love the commentary from Reverend Lovejoy and Bart's evil chuckles of joy about having people sing a rock song in church.
EDITED TO ADD: I just reuploaded this song so you might want to download it again if you did it before like... 2 am, although who the fuck besides super insomniac and losery me is messing around on LJ at 2 am, right? Anyway, I had to rerecord and upload the song because Michi informed me that the hyper ominous religious lecture that Reverend Lovejoy gives all the kids along with Bart's deadpan unimpressed reaction to it at the end of this song number is too funny to be left out. And thus I rerecord the song and upload it again because I love my gf and I'm whipped. It's the romantic domestication of a geek.

Next is the song Senor Burns performed by Tito Puente from the episode Who Shot Mr. Burns (Part Two) which is a song that Tito performs for Chief Wiggum and the other Springfield police officers when they come to interrogate him about where was he when Mr. Burns got shot. When the police confront Tito and say that he had plenty of reason to want to shoot Mr. Burns he says, "Revenge? Of course. But why wound his body with bullets when I could set his soul afire with a slanderous mambo? Listen, if you will, to my revenge. Uno, dos, tres!"
And then he proceeds to play the most kick ass insulting mambo ever. I seriously wish I could write an insult song this good. Hee. Tito really is so fucking cool and I have to say, I think Latin jazz is just so much more fun than just "normal" jazz if you will. Not that I don't like jazz music. Billie Holiday bringing the lesbian jazz awesomeness, hello! But enough of my babbling and go listen to this song already. It's so very hilarious and so very good.
