I love Macy Gray so I'm not sure why it took me so long to get her album Big which was released March of this year. Laziness? I dunno. Anyway, I finished listening to the album today and unlike her other work it's got a lot more pure R&B and a lot less of her patented crazy genius songs that defy being put into the radio format box. There's even a Justin Timberlake influenced song on the album.

So do I love the album? Hate it? Not either really. I like it but I don't love it like I loved all of her previous work. Probably because there's not as many of those fucked up songs I worship from her. There is tons of great R&B songs though and if you love that and appreciate Macy's unique vocals you'll love this album.

There is one great song on the album, at least for me, and that's Treat Me Like Your Money which has a chorus reference to the song You Spin Me Round by Dead or Alive. The rest of the song lyrics are delightfully twisted and hilarious, just what I love most from Miss Gray. How twisted and hilarious, you ask? Well, here's just a small sample...

Look at me now I got everything
Been with that boy for awhile now
He gives me Bentley's, gives me wedding rings
He gives me inspiration for the song I'm singing
And I have tried to teach him
How to make romance
But you can't buy love so he don't understand it
And every time he comes, he screams: Finances!

Hee. I love it so much. Too fucking funny. Here's the song for anyone who wants to have a listen to the hilarious lyrics.
