I've gone on two interviews this week and I have another one next week. My lofty goal is to get hired from one of these interviews. The first was for Walgreens as a Manager-In-Training which is the job that I want the most at this point as it starts at 37k a year then goes up to 40k when I get my own store as a manager. I would get to stay in St Louis and the region I'd be working in is the area I'm currently living in. The thing that appeals to me about Walgreens is they're so fucking big. They're like the goddamn pharmaceutical borg or something. So there's really no limit to upward mobility with that company which is really cool. Plus those are stores where people usually come in knowing what they want to purchase and they don't particularly expect you to sell things, you know?
It's not like you walk in and they ask you to buy a frequent Walgreens shopper card or something. That's not how the stores are run. The only downside is the fact they're open 24/7 but I had to deal with that at the Highway Patrol and the pay there would be less than what I'd get at Walgreens. Plus the stress was way more.
Second interview was with Sunglass Hut. They're looking for two store managers in the St Louis region so again I'd get to stay in St Louis. The pay would start at 30k-35k a year and I'd be doing a lot less as... well, they're relatively tiny stores and all they sell is fucking sunglasses. Easy enough gig. It reminds me a lot of my hat store which pleases me since I did love working at Lids. It was a lot of fun. Good thing about Sunglass Hut is they're owned by Luxottica which owns a crapload of companies including Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, Target Store Vision Centers. That means upward mobility with them is great too because you can easily transfer to other stores within the company and they often do that for their top performers.
The last interview which I've yet to have is for a store manager position with Inkstop which sells nothing but ink cartridges for printers of all types. It's a computer geek job and I think I'd like working for them as well. We'll see how it goes. I mainly just want a fucking job so I can stop feeling like such a loser.
