Sorry folks, but I just have to post here and do a slight mini rant about how some fucking warped faction of the Tibette army of fanfic writers seem hell bent on portraying Alice as still hung up on Bette after how many years of not dating and after knowing the fact that they apparently only dated for six weeks and Bette most likely treated younger and perhaps way more inexperienced Alice like a piece of crap as she tends to have a habit of doing. I don't mind Bette, okay? I actually love Bette when she's separated from Tina because I think Tina is the black hole of boring on that show. She comes on screen and sucks all the interesting from any scene with her presence. And if Tibette breaks up again in S3 and Bette turns all angsty and boozing and smoking and having sex with random twinks again I'll do a fangirl squee of joy. Actually, I'll do a fangirl squee of joy if they just separate Bette from Tina permanently.
But even if I like Bette I HATE the habit that the fans who write fics for her have this obsession with writing her as this like... unforgettable goddess that neither Alice nor the black hole of boring, Tina, can seem to get over. Since Alice is my favorite character it bugs me way more with her than with Tina. And actually, I guess I'm okay with the black hole of boring not being able to get over Bette. At least in fanfic form. They deserve each other.
Anyway, it makes no sense to write Alice as being in love with Bette. Because:
1) They dated years ago and it was only for six weeks. Years! Six weeks!
2) Not once in the show has Alice given the impression that she's still crushing on Bette. Not fucking once.
3) If she's so goddamn in love with Bette then why the hell didn't she go after Bette in S2 when she was separated from Tina and angsty and fucking twinks? Oh, I don't know, because she's head over heels in love with Dana and only cares about Bette as a friend?
If there's anyone when it comes to Alice and her romantic history that she can't get over, in my opinion, it's Gabby. We didn't get tons of info on their romance other than they keep breaking up and making up and Alice always takes Gabby back. I myself wrote them as dating on and off for several years and having relationships thirteen times and counting. Which I think is feasible because I have dyke friends who have gone out with the same girls twenty times or more. It totally happens and Alice is just the type to forgive and pretend she forgot the way the person hurt her before just because she really does want to be loved.
Dana is the first, no doubt. She is the first huge and big love and that's the reason why Alice will be fucked up in S3 but Gabby is that needling thorn in the side that Alice can't get rid of. She really does know Gabby is bad for her but there's just something about her that pulls Alice back to her over and over. But yeah, I definitely think that Dana is the huge sort of romantic fork in the road for Alice. Meaning that their break up in S3 is going to be significant enough for Alice that she will end up making a really large choice, I think, in how her life is going to continue on from that point romantically and otherwise.
Okay, so, phew. Ranting mode off. Sorry for that or not sorry for that but I had to rant. I felt the urge after seeing three fanfics in a row that had major plot points focusing on the craptastic theory Alice is still in love with Bette. I should stop typing about that because it's still making me twitch in super nerdy fangirl irritation. Want to know something impressive though? I ranted this way while listening to one of the most mellow bands in existence, Color Theory. lol. I think I'll link a song for you guys as a reward for reading this crap. Although, to be fair, no one made you read this. It's your own damn fault for putting up with my nerdish rants. Hee. Take that! Bwahaha or something.

I was going to link this for All The White Horses but I dunno if I'll be able to fit the song into the story. Originally I was going to have Alice listening to this in Part One when she talks to Helena on the phone but I switched it to the awesome Johnette cover of The Scientist because it's so fucking awesome and sad and totally suited the scene.
And now I'm done posting. Sorry again for the super nerdtastic fic rant. lol.
