Songs For Sherryl

[livejournal.com profile] feral_sherryl asked if I would do some song recommendations for the radio show she's working on because she's needing an opening and closing tune to splice. Wait. This post is to her so why am I talking in the third person or whatever to her? Stupid.

Anyway, I'm not sure if these songs fit because you said the show was light hearted but that doesn't really tell me what sort of humor you guys are using. Sardonic, wry, derisive, uhm... whatever the fuck else there is humor wise. I dunno. I'm just going to paste the songs and hope that one of them spliced in the right way would make nice intro and closing songs for you. If I'm totally off in my recommendations in terms of what you're looking for then let me know and I can scrounge around for some other stuff to suggest. If you want me to, that is. What I'm suggesting now might be so horrifically bad that I lose my music suggesting privileges. rofl. Man, that's lame. Ah well. Here are the songs.

Bugger! I knew I forgot to do something and now I know what it was! Sorry I didn't reply to the other message, it totally slipped my mind!

As far as the show is concerned, it's probably not going to be the best show in the world. It's only temporary at college as they wasnt us to "experience" working as a team on radio. I much prefer my own show as I have more control.
Anyhoo, as I said the show is called "Three's a crowd" and it's just going to be a mash of random things. As it's going to be assessed as part of our coursework it has to include a few elemnts but on the whole it's pretty laid back and random.
I really get a long with the two guys so we come across as something similar to the three stooges. It's stupid comedy to be honest. We take the piss out of anything and everything. The whole show is kind of linked around our "Fancy That" tidbits which are just strange/weird/funny stories from around the world. Similar to this but more random. We've recored or own little barber shop jingle to intoriduce each tidbit and it sounds awesomely cheesy!
Music wise, it's mainly going to be indie/rock.
Does that give you enough of an idea?

Thanks for taking the time to think of some music. I truly appreciate it. I think the best one for the show so far would be K.I.D.S incorporated, especially if I could edit it down correctly. Somehow I think Heather Nova is too girly for the boys.
Whatever the case, I have to run it by them first before we decide on anything. Luckily we've got till Wednesday before we air.

Since it seems you want harder music that's a bit on the humorous side or just in the alternative party song vein. Which, btw, I hate. Not alternative music but the fact that music is actually called alternative. It's fucking stupid. Every kind of music is an alternative to another kind of music, you know? The alternative to opera is country and the alternative to country is rap and blah blah blah. Anyway, more songs! Some of these are totally fucking random ass shite. Including the weird ass version of the song One by Metallica that mixes in sound bytes from Transformers: The Movie.

That's a song that I totally recommend everyone download it's so weird. lol. Oh! I know you like Miyazaki films. I finally got to watch Whisper of the Heart after years of first seeing it. It's SO good and super cute romantic. I totally think you'd love that film if you haven't seen it yet.

Eergh! I hate the word alternative too. I had a whole argument about it with a friend a couple of months ago. It's to broad a name to classify a particular type of music!
Again, i love the song choices. You have no idea how much I love Let's Do It! There's something about that song that I've always loved and I love it how I love all the different versions of it. I think my love of that song started with the movie Tank Girl!
As far as the radio show is concerned, there's something about KIDS incorporated that I still love. I managed to edit it down to 40seconds without it sounding ~too~ bad.

I'm just waiting on the final verdict from the boys. They like the song (they haven't heard edited down version yet) but are still searching for others just in case. I know one of them is after something a bit less loud and more instrumental. ICK!
I'm trying to put my persuasive powers to good use so we'll see how it pans out.

I haven't seen Whisper of the Heart. I take it it's good then. To be honest, I've only really seen the main players. ie. Howl's moving castle, Princess Monoke, Spirited Away, etc.
I really should try and watch them all.
I'm working my way through Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. You're right, it's fucking awesome! Why didn't you tell me about it sooner! I feel like I missed out on something important by not reading it sooner.
I'm still trying to get used to the whole reading backwards thing. As I don't read that much anime, it always takes me a while to adjust. My brain isn't smart enough to realise that I have to read backwards and that reading it the wrong way will only lead to more confusion!
The annoying thing is that once my brain does decide to click on, I'll go back to reading my usual graphic novels and wonder why the hell I'm reading them backwards!
aargh! I'm so dumb!
