Work Problem #1

I've finally discovered an issue with my new job which I love so much. And it's nothing that directly has to do with the job itself or my coworkers. That's perfect. This is more like a negative after effect of the job. And what is that? The fact that I spend 90% of my time on the computer. Something I normally fucking love and I honestly do love that my job is so computer related with composing letters, memos, recommendations, and pleas.

But the downside? I get home and I don't want to be on the computer anymore. Meaning I don't want to write my stories because what does writing involve? THE COMPUTER! Suck ass, right? I figure I'm just semi burnt out on writing by the time I get home. I wonder if this will bode very fucking horrendously badly for my future in going to school for writing in September. Hmmm. In the meantime, I've decided to set up a writing schedule which will involve writing for at least two hours Saturday and Sunday along with any other day I'm not working.

I figure that might help the burn out factor. Anyone else who writes have a similar problem and if so, what was your solution? I really want this to go away because I love writing and I want to go home and write my stories like I used to when I worked retail but I just feel so drained with it and I can't seem to make myself. Well, technically I could make myself but I feel I really shouldn't have to do that, you know?

Then again, if I want to seriously attempt to make a "career" out of writing I'll need to learn the process of forcing myself to write when I really don't want to. Blerh. Oh well, life is unpleasant at times. Live and learn or some fucking shit.

Oh, it's the same. I work for the PC 12 hours a day, then when I reach home in the hope to type my story, I 've to type on the PC again with my burning eyes that feel like they're dying.

I think this works though, I scribble everything down on paper-a notebook, and bribe someone to type it in for me in exchange for my eternal love.

Heh, then I just do the edits and formatting every weekend when I'm not so sick of using the PC.

:D P/s: Loved your last story between Alice and Ruth.

Glad you liked the story! I'm too lazy to write it all out by hand and then transcribe it but that's a really good idea if I have specific scenes in my head complete with dialogue and descriptions. Otherwise I just ordered a nifty miniature dictation recorder from Amazon.com because I tend to get story ideas while I drive and trying to write that down and drive? Yeahhh...

I don't want to give my employers my own business. lol. I'm stingy that way.

I've found that if I wait until after I've wound down and done the dinner thing that I can spend a little bit of time on the computer. You don't see me online much anymore because half of the time, even when I want to use the computer, I can't get online because of that stupid user limit at my apartment. >.
