I don't deal well with certain situations. One of them is people I knew however long ago, and no longer remember, appearing out of nowhere and talking to me in really public places. It freaks me out and I tend to avoid dealing with them any number of ways. I was at Barnes & Noble today with my brother, taking care of some of his last minute Christmas shopping, when someone called my first and last name out.

My reaction? Turned around, stared at them. They said my name again. I stared blankly. Then I turned to my brother who was talking to me and walked away without saying anything to the person. I know! It was mean, wasn't it? I got really freaked out though and I didn't know who the hell this guy was.

I still have no clue. Although I feel super mean for just turning around and walking away without saying anything. Ehhhh... well, hopefully if I do know him somehow he can get in contact with me and I can apologize. I dunno why but I have weirdly freaked out standoffish moments in public like that sometimes and I always feel really bad afterwards. Maybe because usually I'm a really sociable person.

Whatever though. Soon I shall be in sunny San Francisco for Christmas with Michi and her parents. That should be some great fun. I'm even going to hang out some with my friend Michelle who is living there. Yay on that!

Too bad I still feel guilty about that guy.

Have fun in San Francisco.

Hope you have a great holiday.

I understand what you mean about speaking to people you don't remember. I'm terrible with faces and it embarrasses me when approached by someone I can't remember. I'm sure this guy didn't take offense, after all if you didn't remember his face, he obviously isn't somebody you see often.

Once again have fun. Deb

Happy Holidays! Enjoy SF.

As for the guy, I think he probably was offended or thought he had the wrong person. But hey, it's over now. :-)

I do that all the time, and always wind up feeling guilty for days, especially if I happen to see them roaming around town. If that happens, I usually duck into the nearest store so as not to repeat the experience.

Have fun in San Francisco!

In some situations, I wish I could do that: turn around and leave. When I run into people like that, I stay talking to them and try not to let show I don't remember them. Blah, it sucks just as much.

Have a great holiday.
