PS2 Purgatory
Earlier this week I got the uncontrolled urge to play Legend of Mana on the PSX and Okage: Shadow King on the PS2. I try to restrain my urge and be adult and say the urge to play games would die and I would soon return to my normal manga and music obsessed state.
Days passed and my urge to play said games would not leave me. Thus I consulted with the gf who reasonably pointed out I had a shitload of gift cards I could use to various places to get said games and system. So I decided to buy the games and a PS2 system with which to play them.
Why couldn't I use Michi's system with which she plays many DDR games? Well, Michi is half Chinese and half Japanese and has lived in Tokyo for a time and still has friends there. Yeah, her system and games are all imports. No dice there people. Because unlike super smart gf I don't understand a lick of Japanese writing.
Yesterday I decided to get my games and system. I ended up buying the super rare Legend of Mana on half.com for $40.00 which was fairly cheap considering some people listed it for $199.00 and every time I tried to bid on it at ebay the fuckers there kept pushing it up to $50.00 and more. I hate goddamn ebay. It irritates me to have to bid on shit. I just want to buy things. Bidding pisses me off.
Then I went to a used game store and got Okage: Shadow King for $5.00 along with a PSX and PS2 memory card, both used, for $20 together. I then set out for the local Best Buy to get my PS2 and use up some gift cards.
No PS2. I go the next Best Buy. No PS2. I go to the next Best Buy. No PS2. Do we sense a pattern? At this point I was desperate enough to play my fucking games that I decided I would just spend my own somewhat hard earned money and buy a system. Thus I went to a Gamestop. No PS2. Another Gamestop. No PS2. A CompUSA. No PS2. An EB Games. No PS2. The denizen of evil that is Walmart. No PS2.
It's at this point I gave up on my search. Oh yes, and it was fucking raining like crazy during all of this. By the end of my journey I had taken to just walking in and asking if they had PS2s and if they didn't I turned around and left. Here's how it occurred at my final destination of Walmart.
ME: (Walks into electronics department. Waits for clerk to get free.) Do you have any PS2s?
CLERK: (Looks irritated.) No. And neither do any of the other closest stores. I just called five for a lady a half an hour ago.
ME: (Stares at her a moment then walks away.) I didn't ask you to call other stores.
I hate Walmart and I don't blame that clerk for any perceived rudeness. Working at that place fucking crushes your soul. Anyway. I get home, dry off, then head off to the L Word viewing party but not after doing an online search of the Gamestop.com site and finding stores that their online inventory claims have PS2s in stock. I wake up today at 10 am call one of them.
Yay! They have it. My hellish search for a PS2 is over.
Now I can play Okage: Shadow King all day today and wait for Legend of Mana to arrive in the mail. I also need to work on my lesbian superhero story for that Superqueeroes collection of stories. I really want to get my fic in there.
For anyone who is an L Word fan and liked the song that Shane was listening to when she crashed her car in the premiere episode of S4 here's that track and another song I like a little bit better by the same band. The first song is the one that was playing in Shane's car.

Ascetically I enjoyed the Alice and Papi sex scene but… well, Papi annoys the shit out of me and I don't like her at all. I especially didn't like that Helena may have had sex with her in the bushes. Blerh on that. I also didn't enjoy how Alice just seemed to be in the episode to provide comedy. It reminded me of S1 where Alice's main purpose was to come in, be funny, then leave.
Suck ass.
The more spoilers I read about Tasha the more I look forward to seeing her in the show. I sort of worry about what's going on with Helena and that gambler lady. Actually, I generally worry about a lack of Helena storyline in this season at all. I'm just hoping the end of S4 points at Helacious romance.
Though I really do like the idea of Tasha and Alice. A nice steady and loyal romantic interest for Alice would be such a great thing. Not that Helena couldn't provide that too but like I said, Tasha appeals to me.
Strange as it seems, Bette was my favorite thing in this new episode. I liked every single scene with her. My favorites were her telling Helena that Tina was a "fucking collaborator" when it came to Helena's getting fired at the studio, her hot Dean Porter lecture to the perspective TA candidates, and how she rested her head on Alice's shoulder at the end of the episode so sweet and casual. I also really fucking loved her "what the hell is that" expression she wore when Helena emerged from the bushes. Jennifer Beals can be really hilarious when she wants.

As to last night's ep, I hearted immensely the scene where Bette put her head on Alice's shoulder. I also hearted Shay, that kid is freaking cute. But I'm with you on the not liking Alice's reversion to comic relief, bleh on that. I'm digging the Tasha thing too, I just hope that doesn't end too horribly when she heads back to Iraq. Meh, guess I'll have to wait and see.

Last night's ep: YES! I was all about the Hot Dean Porter lecture...but that TA I find annoying...and I don't like Papi at all, either. (Awesome screencap avatar, btw. :)) Helena doesn't seem to be an "in the bushes" type, but then, she's pretty impulsive. Poor Helena, with twigs in her hair. :(

I agree with what you wrote about Alice. She seemed very much like the character from season one. I know she has more depth than that, but I don't trust IC at all when it comes to storytelling. I didn't enjoy the scene with Papi, though I'm sure it was fine. I just couldn't get into it. That scene was too much like the silly vampire sex scene last year, but I enjoyed Uta more.
I also don't like Helena's direction. They completely de-clawed her. IC has gone too far in the opposite direction to make people like her. She isn't Dana. I wish they would stop making her the dorky sidekick. Give Helena her backbone back.
I liked Bette too, but I hope she stays away from the TA. She's trouble with a capital "T".
