I don't feel like massively analyzing The L Word anymore so I'm going to talk about the few things I cared about in the finale. Lets start with Alice and Tasha and the cute accented designer whose name escapes me. I love Alice the most out of all the characters with Jenny following up a close second because she's been particularly marvelous the last few seasons and Mia Kirshner is made out of concentrated entertainment goodness. Anyway! I'll always love Alice best because of Leisha Hailey's uncontrollable adorability no matter what fucked up stuff her character does.

That being said, I was relieved to see her stop the cute designer from kissing her and then have Alice say to Shane no matter how attracted she is she won't cheat and doesn't want to cheat and give up on her relationship. I wasn't pleased at the idea of having Alice cheat on Tasha who is pretty much the most loyal girlfriend ever and that conversation eased my fears. Although Shane encouraging her to pursue her attraction with the cute designer didn't really win any points. It was also a rather big anvil dropping for the later disaster with Niki and Jenny.

Also the entire bit with the cute designer saying she hates cops and then having the next scene with Alice be Tasha announcing she wants to be one? Yeah... another unnecessarily big anvil being dropped there. Though as someone who dated a cop and worked for them it would be nice to see a lesbian cop on tv who is actually presented as such instead of us inserting the implications due to their personal lives never being enlarged upon. Plus it would be another chance to display police officers as, oh I don't know, human beings instead of these tough guy or constant angst machine over worked slightly crazed people that they're always being presented as on the cop dramas. I swear, they really love to drama up police work. Not that it isn't drama filled but they really take things too far in the tv shows.

I don't mind if Alice and Tasha break up. That's fine. But for the love of god, stop the constant cheating IC! It's starting to get mind numbingly boring and thoroughly uncreative and fucking lame. Yes, a lot of people cheat but not every fucking person in the world and certainly not every couple in a circle of friends should be affected by cheating in terms of ending their relationships.

Now onto my second favorite character who might overpass Alice in the last season of the show if Alice continues to be weirdly bigoted to Max and all forcibly outing people from the closet. The one, the only, the completely crazy fabulous Jennifer Schecter.
I've been a fan of Shenny from their S2 beginnings. Shane was the person who originally helped make the much loathed S1 Jenny bearable and downright lovable in S2 for me. They only got better together as the seasons went on and sure most of it was friendship awesomeness but honestly, these two are presented as very complex individuals with varying degrees of problems both psychological and emotional because of their past traumas. They're beautiful but they're also damaged and as close friends they're well aware of how damaged they are and they still love each other despite or maybe even because of it.

I think they'd give each other a new level of trust and contentment if they were together in a romance since they understand each other so well. And I don't think that Jenny would ever let Shane get away with her angsty woe is me I can't ever have a real relationship because I'm a cheater unable of ever really loving someone and being faithful routine. Something that she unfortunately allows people to convince her is the truth about herself when I think nothing could be further from the truth. If Shane had some real support and genuine love and caring from someone instead of hearing what a horrible person she has been and could be in a romantic relationship I think she'd flourish. Not that she hasn't had that from previous partners but often outside people and events have caused Shane to doubt herself and those partners haven't been able to catch Shane before she fell back into bad habits. Jenny is just the right person to do this for Shane. She'd snap that self defeating behavior right in the bud and call Shane on her bullshit. She also wouldn't let anyone talk badly of Shane if she got wind of it and would defend her in a fiercely bitchy and hilarious way. I think on the same hand Shane is the only one who has shown herself capable of putting up with and downright loving Jenny despite her self absorbed and self destructive tendencies and actually has been able to pull Jenny out of it and put her in a better place mentally.

Plus they're so damn cute together.

I refuse to visit OurChart but I guess IC has a show on there called Secret Ingredient where she talks about the episodes and she hints heavily at Shenny in S6 which would make me so happy because then I'd be guaranteed to like at least one couple in the last season.

The last scene with them was another gigantic anvil about their relationship though I'm unsure if Jenny's trailing off line where she said, "But I thought..." is meant to imply she's always felt something romantic towards Shane or it has just developed recently. Certainly I don't think Shane has had any idea of such feelings if they do exist. Jenny is stuck in her own head a lot of the time but I don't believe with how she was so infatuated with Niki that she was aware of being in love with Shane. Perhaps she has been in love for a few years now and is just now realizing it. That's not unheard of and it does make a degree of sense when you consider how close they are and how much Shane has done for Jenny over the years.

We've seen Shane angsty countless times throughout the show. Hell, in this one episode we saw it happen at least on five separate occasions but I think she looked her most angsty when Jenny told her that she broke her heart. It was as if she had a moment like Jenny had in the past episode and in that moment she finally realized just how much Jenny truly means to her and how much she does love her but now it's too late because she's betrayed her in a way that she didn't even know was even possible until that very moment.

Pretty sucky for Shane I must say.

That's all I have to say about the episode. I really really really really really want Shenny in the final season because that would be the cutest most funny thing ever. Can you just imagine the reactions of everyone else in the group? Hee! But Shane will have to find a good way to win Jenny over. Honestly, in an odd way this reminds me of the S1 season finale with the Danish kiss because it ends with a huge relationship cliffhanger for our potential couple. I just hope this finale creates the same large fanbase and lovely amount of great fanfic for Shenny as it did for Danish. And that Shenny has a better ending than Danish.

You know, a happy one. If such a thing is possible on The L Word. Well, there is Tibette. And look at what they had to go through to get there. Lord help us.

Oh! And how hot was Helena rescuing Lover Cindi from Dawn Denbo's wrath? Please Helena, defy the odds and return for S6. I adore you so.

No love for Molly?

Molly is okay but like I said, I've loved Shenny since they first moved in together for S2. Since then I've slowly but surely have seen Jenny develop into my second favorite character on the show and I absolutely love her with Shane. And as for Shane I think Jenny is better for her romantically than Molly.

Besides, I don't think Molly was ever meant to stick around. None of Shane's romantic interests are. Jenny, however, won't go away. Even if we weren't in the last season in the show the fact that she's one of the core characters makes her having a romance with Shane far more significant than Cherie, Carmen, Paige, and Molly if you ask me.

It's the same reason why Dana with Alice was far more important to show plot than Dana with Lara. Or even Alice with Lara after Dana died. And if they hooked Alice up with Helena it would be more plot significant than if they hook her up with random new designer girl.

Dunno, I kinda felt like they had different writers for every episode of S5...all of it felt really jarring continuity-wise and very public service announcementy. Dunno. Least favorite season, this one.

I totally agree with you on Shenny... it would be such a satisfying resolution for them to come together in the finale, almost a bookend to the very start of the show when jenny sees shane over the fence... plus despite randomly gaining massive support the nikki character just comes across vacuous to me!
