Was yesterday apparently. I went to go see Iron Man with friends which rules, btw, and I got stopped for going twelve miles over the speed limit when I was driving to pick up my slightly tipsy brother from a party.
The officer who stopped me was really polite and the whole thing was over with in less than five minutes which is rare for a traffic stop but I find it funny, especially since I was picking up my tipsy brother who had just called me, that until he told me the reason he stopped me was because it was Cinco de Mayo and they were doing random DUI checks for anyone disobeying traffic laws, no matter how minor, I completely forgot it was a huge drinking and party day. Well, technically party week.
I mean, I think this is further proof of my sheer nerdiness because to me yesterday was all about Iron Man being released and going to see a potentially kick ass comic book movie with friends. lol. I swear, I think I get more and more nerdy as I get older but whatever. The movie was indeed kick ass and I'm going to get the ticket taken care of thanks to my lawyer friends at Traffic Law Center.
Other things that rule? Tristan Prettyman and Portishead's new albums. Soooooo very good. I'll have to upload some songs on them later because they're truly wonderful works. Madonna's new album? Ehhh, I love Madonna absolutely but I'm starting to get sick of all these tracks where she has other artists on them. I want another album like Bedtime Stories from her. Something beautiful and poignant, you know?
Maybe I'm just being picky.
It's not like it's a bad album it's just that it seems like it's more of the same and I want to hear something different from her. Madonna is capable of producing some genuinely great music and her last few albums have been sort of disappointing. Still, I buy her stuff no matter what. It's Madonna and I own all her cds, good or bad or even boring.
Oh yeah, and about Iron Man? If you go to see it you MUST sit and watch until the very end of the movie. There is a great clip at the end of the credits all comic book nerds will squee over in geeky glee.
