The gf is out of town on some sort of math teacher conference thing until Tuesday. That leaves me all by myself except for the dogs and the cat. I plan on doing nothing special at all because I'm incredibly boring. I might do laundry. Whee x 2.

Weirdly enough today I discovered that someone I know vaguely is one of those people who delights in creating various fake online personalities and then has said fake personalities interact with each other on their fake journals and varied communities. Luckily this takes place on MySpace and Facebook, two places I have never visited nor have any real desire to visit due to the annoyance their mere names lend me. Meaning I'll have no chance of ever encountering the fake personas.

Unless they decide to lurk on my Livejournal. Lord help me if they do.

That behavior, whether you call it trolling or sockpuppetry or just weird fucked up adult version of online pretend, never made much sense to me. It seems like such a waste of time to do that sort of thing. The person I was talking to compared it to being a fiction writer but if you write fiction then people tend to KNOW it's fiction. Making up fake people online and having them interact doesn't seem like anything remotely the same as writing a story. Whether it be a fanfic or an original work. Actually, I find the idea of spending tons of time posting as fake people online strangely sad and a bit lame. Especially when you're having all of your fake people interacting with each other.

Said person informed me that they found it weird that I didn't have a fake persona of my own online and that you can't really trust anything online and nothing is safe/sacred and yadda yadda. Which... duh. I know that.

I dunno. I guess I'm too fucking lazy to make up fake people and post as them. I barely have time to write fanfic and I actually enjoy doing that.
