I just got back from Otakon and I'm exhausted but happy. It was a lot of fun and it was great to see [livejournal.com profile] oneiric22 and company. The one thing that sort of stank but was hilarious in its own inanity is the fact that we wanted to see this 18+ stuff on Friday night only to get there and be told we need a special bracelet to get in. So we go and stand in the huge line to get the special bracelet only to find all the 18+ stuff we wanted to see is completely filled up so we can't attend it anymore.

We wore those damn paper plasticky club kid bracelets all weekend and didn't attend one 18+ event. lol. Shitty but funny now that I look back on it. Everyone was pretty much the same except this time Pat's college friend Hanaa attended as well and she was tons of fun. I really hope she goes to another con with us. I'm going to bug Pat to bug her about it the next time we arrange for a trip.

Though I wonder if he's going to want the two of us together in the same room again as he was uncomfortable with our warped bonding at the end of the convention.

The best thing at the convention had to be the showing of the movie Zsazsa Zaturnnah which is a musical about a transgendered hairdresser named Ada who gets hit on the head with a pink brick from outer space, decides to swallow it, and becomes a female superhero named Zsazsa Zaturnnah who protects her small town from giant frogs, flying zombies, and outer space feminist Amazons out to kill all men in the universe.

It's a really brilliant bad movie and the love story between Ada/Zsazsa and the local village hunk Dodong is terribly sweet. I can't recommend this movie enough for people who love movies so bad they're good. It's fantastic.

Although Anime conventions are the usual meeting place I've really been wanting to attend a general Sci-Fi convention and I'm strangely fascinated by Gaylaxicon although I know there's no way in hell I can attend it with any of my friends this year. Hopefully they'll do it again next year because I think it could be a huge festival of gay nerdy fun. lol. Pat wants to go to a comic book convention so I'm think we could do one after another in 2009/2010. It's just a matter of picking which one to go to first. I guess it depends on the options for the two different conventions.

Either way, I'm already looking forward to that. For those curious about Zsazsa Zaturnnah, and I know many who read this piddling LJ probably are, here's the movie trailer for your perusal. Be warned it is in Portugese so most probably won't know what they're saying but you can still understand the quality of the film, imho.
