Allaine is ending his web radio show, Femslash 4 Fans, and I've been invited to be on one of the last of episodes. I'm sad to see it ending but I'm happy he asked me to be a part of it. If you want to listen to me babble the show starts at 10 pm EST Thursday, June 20th, and I'll be on at 10:45 pm.

Here's the official blurb:

Now that F4F has not only marked its fourth anniversary of being on the air, but also entered its final month of broadcasting, we’ll be spending all of June celebrating that which made this program great. Don’t worry, no self-congratulation here, of course I’m talking about the guests. For each show in June, we’ll have on four (and occasionally five) guests who made at least one prior appearance to talk about what they’ve been up to since then. Maybe they’ve continued to write fanfic for the same television show. Maybe they’ve moved onto something new, and moved again. Maybe it’s original fiction now. Or maybe they’ve stopped writing altogether. We’ll also be returning to the show’s roots by hosting shows weekly instead of biweekly, so that’s sixteen former guests, each speaking for fifteen minutes at a time. Tonight we’ll begin with Grdnofevrything (who first appeared on F4F on 7/2/2009) at 10 PM EST, followed by Kim Pritekel (6/14/10) at 10:15, Inspector Boxer (9/3/09) at 10:30, and Dreiser (6/25/09) at 10:45 PM. Tune in, because really, someone just might be talking about whatever thing you love best.

As for what I'll be talking about...  )

How long has Star Trek Voyager been off the air? I don't know. I love it always and I get on these streaks where I rewatch it and I've been doing random episodes instead of going logically through the seasons episode by episode like usual. I might do that later though.

Anywayyyy, one of my few OTP's in fandom has to be Janeway/Seven. I love them as a couple. Usually I don't go for May/December romances but they're pretty much perfect together and Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan are just too fucking fantastic with the chemistry together. It also helps that Janeway, hands down, is my favorite Star Trek Captain.

On that note, here's a link to a hilarious J7 ala Scott Pilgrim comic strip for the fun of it and some random J7 gifs.

The last one isn't J7 just Janeway being adorable. As if that's just anything though. Janeway! So much love forever. I crush on your voice until the end of days.

It makes me irrationally annoyed when I read femslash fanfic that has it where two cisgendered women having sex leads to pregnancy and then their child is a BOY. Not because, ewww, boys have cooties! But because science! Cisgendered women have XX chromosome which in humans only leads to other women. XY chromosome possessed by men is what makes it able for the fetus to develop into the male sex. You need the Y chromosome to have a boy and if two women having sex somehow leads to a kid then they don't have the correct chromosomes between them to have a boy since they're both XX and XX chromosomes can only reproduce other XX chromosomes or, you know, another girl.

I know, I know, f-preg is sci-fi! It's not real. Or wait, they've already done it in Japan with two female mice and guess what? They only had girls. So yeah. Science. lol. I don't know why it bothers me so much but it does. I don't read much f-preg fanfic but whenever I do and the kid ends up a boy I usually click out. I guess I can only suspend my disbelief so much?

ETA: Using my Janeway frowny face icon because it's awesome and hilarious not because I take this super seriously and it makes me frown that hard. I should do my sixth rewatch for all of Voyager again. I think it's been a year since I last did that.

You guys, did I like, create a Fleur fanfic trope with No Defense For You? Because I got bored and started going through fanfiction.net last night and there seems like a huge amount of Fleur/Hermione fics that uses the whole veela blood heritage and destined true love at first sight thing I came up with for that fic as their way of hooking them up. I mean, if someone did it before me I'll get them all due credit and more credit to [livejournal.com profile] meingeheimnis since her fic is massively more well known and popular than mine but gee whiz, that plot is all over this ship.

Sort of boring.

I should write that fic that has Fleur/Hermione as 40 year olds and having an affair while working together at the Ministry. First I need to finish the Pretty Little Liars fanfic though. I'm 10k into that fic and still wanting to get it done before I depart for Anime Boston.

When people email me about my fanfic, I generally reply to them but when it comes to Livejournal (and especially Fanfiction.net) comments I don't respond for the most part. I've just read a lengthy discussion on one of the forums I lurk at where some established and pretty well known fanfic writers were saying to not reply to each and every comment they get is ungrateful and downright rude.

Really? I don't think that. I'm not sure what I would reply with anyway. Thank you over and over? I reply when I have something to say back to the person or they ask a question I have an answer to otherwise I just leave it.

Just wondering what other fanfic writers/readers on my friendslist or who read this LJ think about it.

Good music like Adele's new album, featuring the song Rolling In The Deep, makes me super happy. Thus I share. Click on the above link to download the mp3 or you can just watch the music video provided below. I really want to see her live someday.

Also, in random fandom news, I have the attention span of a flea and am now obsessed with the Resident Evil movies. Thus proving my attention moving at the speed of light for fanfic projects, I have already plotted out a fic that features Alice/Jill and Alice/Claire shipping in it. I don't foresee it being long. I want to finish and post it by next week to get over my Resident Evil fixation and move onto my unfinished projects.

Anyway! Adele awesome music video away!

I'll be co-hosting [livejournal.com profile] allaine77's radio show, Femslash4Fans, on January 6th at 10 EST. The show topic (in case you haven't read my subject line) will be Harry Potter. We'll be joined by [livejournal.com profile] redbeargrl and [livejournal.com profile] meingeheimnis so I expect the show to be thoroughly awesome.

My fandom New Year's resolution is to try and finish my many abandoned fanfic projects including A Thousand Glimpses (AMC), Fragile Things (My Otome), and A Matter of Circumstance (Marimite).

Even so, I'm horribly tempted to participate in P&P's Epic Proportions contest. Since it has to be a brand new fanfic I was thinking of finally writing my All My Children/L Word crossover fanfic that hooks up Bianca and Helena thus creating the prettiest/nicest/most made of win lesbian heiress couple of all time. The pretty, you guys, the sheer pretty!

Or I could finish my Legend of the Seeker fanfic that has Cara/Dahlia post S2 finale. Hmm.

I have it around here somewhere. But, no, really... I'm totally reading a ton of Anakin/Padme fanfic because Spike TV had the prequel trilogy on today and even though Hayden can't act his way out of a bag and Natalie wasn't really trying I ship them hardcore. Anyyyyyway. My shipping and fandom nerdiness aside, Merry Christmas everybody!

Here's an appropriate comic strip for all us fandom folks (especially Star Trek) courtesy of a link from [livejournal.com profile] oneiric22 in one of our aimless chats. I think I'm getting a lot of Star Wars loot for the holidays though. Katie hinted at it and so did Jake and Laura. Wheee! The Force is so with me.

I'll be appearing yet again on Allaine's show Femslash4Fans on blogtalk radio tonight at 9 pm EST. We'll be talking about fun world of femslash in the year 2010 and what we're looking forward to in 2011. Listen in!

I'll be helping [livejournal.com profile] allaine77 co-host his radio show Femslash 4 Fans tonight at 10 PM EST. We'll be talking to Erica Friedman about Yuri and her various projects. Well, Allaine will. I'll mostly be a goof talking to a friend. Blurb away!

This month Femslash4Fans finally embraces a broad segment of lesbian fan fiction on the Internet that we've only scratched the surface on - anime and manga. With a year having already gone by since my segment on Mai-HiME, in September F4F will be doing two shows on anime/manga femslash, or more accurately "yuri". And when you think yuri, you think of Yuricon, the anime/manga convention that has been running since the turn of the millenium. And THAT naturally leads to thoughts of tonight's guest, Yuricon creator Erica Friedman. Starting small in 2000 with a virtual convention called AniLesboCon, it wasn't long before Friedman not only turned this into the Yuricon we know today, but also launched ALC Publishing, which has introduced many Americans to manga with its own original content, as well as English translations of Japanese comics. And if that wasn't enough, she writes the yuri review blog Okazu. Oh yeah, and she may have written some fanfic of her own too. Dreiser makes her second appearance on F4F as a co-host, as together we ask Friedman about all of the above, and more. How did it all get started, how are things now, and where does she see it all going?

I'll be helping [livejournal.com profile] allaine77 co-host his radio show Femslash 4 Fans on Thursday, August 12th at 10 PM EST. If you love the snarky fun of Ash & Scribbs give it a listen!

Femslash4Fans finally makes a long-overdue return from its hiatus with its first-ever look at British television. While "Murder in Suburbia" only ran for twelve episodes in the U.K. in 2004-2005, it continues to inspire fans on both sides of the Atlantic, thanks to the partnership of Detective Inspector Kate "Ash" Ashford and Detective Sergeant Emma "Scribbs" Scribbins. After all, perhaps the reason neither ever seemed to find the right man was because they already found the right woman. Certainly the fanfic authors who have kept the community alive thought so. And two of them will be joining [livejournal.com profile] allaine77 and I on the air, [livejournal.com profile] forgivemenot author of the "Turning Point" series; and [livejournal.com profile] magicmumu who wrote the amnesiac story "Fallen."

I just want to say I have such a fangirl crush on River Song. I love her more than any other supporting character from this show and there's something just delicious about the mystery behind her character and the fan theories surrounding who she is. I can't wait for the next season to have more episodes with her. Also, I'm quite fond of Eleven. He's such fun with Amy Pond and Rory.

Bye sweetie!

Holy shit, you guys! So I'm being a dork and I'm actually watching all six seasons of the L Word backwards. Meaning season six, season five, season four... etc. I'm currently on season three, which bums me out because Dana death, but I'm on episode nine (Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way) and Carmen is talking about how she didn't go to the prom because she went to a porn film festival with Eva Torres and Eva taught her how to sixty nine.

Why is this making me go holy shit continuity in my most favorite cracked out lesbian soap opera? Well, maybe because in season six episode one (Long Night's Journey Into Day) we find out that Papi's real name is Eva Torres. Haha... Papi taught Carmen how to sixty nine. I dunno why I love this so much but I do. According to the wiki Tasha says Papi's real name sometime in season four but fuck if I remember that.

I'm trying to figure out couples for the possible AMC/L Word crossover fic. I think I'm going to set it after season five but before season six starts up for L Word and for AMC right after the Zoe storyline ends for Bianca.

I'll be making another brief cameo on [livejournal.com profile] allaine77's radio show Femslash 4 Fans this Thursday, May 27th, at 9 pm central standard time for a reunion show since it's been a year since he started this neat project. If you want to listen to me inanely prattle about fandom and fanfic, most likely my halfway plotted out new Seeker fic or the recasting of Bianca on All My Children, or call in and talk to me or just like post questions in the little chat window and tune in.

It's really hot here. I miss winter.

ETA: OMG! I just ordered a pair of new glasses from Global Eyeglasses online and I love them. Not only were the frames ridiculously cheap the hugest part of my optical bill my insanely hardcore prescription was only $200! I know that still seems pricey for some but seriously? I'm used to popping out $400 on the prescription alone and the version of cheap nice frames I like at Lenscrafters is $70 so this...? So fabulous. I totally recommend ordering from them. You just need your prescription and pupillary distance to make it all right with the world.

ETA x 2: I just went on YourFonts.com and made this font based on my own handwriting after reading about the hilarity of Twihards doing the same thing for RPattz. Is this readable? It's sad how cool I find this. lol. So nerdy.

I always get into cancelled shows. I've been meaning for awhile to watch Legend of the Seeker because I read the book series awhile ago and enjoyed it a fair amount (especially the bits about evil manifest chickens) but just never got into it. I've just finished watching all of the current episodes and now I want to write fanfic. lol. I'm so fucking fickle about this shit. I ship the tragically doomed and awesome background relationship of Cara/Dahlia.

It's sad that I'm that much of a South Park fangirl when I read about this all I could think of was...

New South Park episodes start March 17th and I cannot wait. Also, I have ideas for a fourth Whip It fanfic for my ongoing series. Each fic seems to get longer than the last so I suspect this next one will be huge. Anyway. I think I'll start making myself plot it out tomorrow in Scrivener. I'm trying to create a tiny fandom by my lonesome it seems but I cannot help it. Juliette Lewis is too pretty in black leather. I can't resist.
dreiser: (Joan Jett: Tongue)
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 10:04 pm
I love, love, love, love Joan Jett. I've seen her five times in concert and have gotten close enough to the stage to touch her but I never did because that's slightly creepy. Well, more than slightly, but anyway. Much love for Joan.

From the start, I wasn't too sure about the The Runaways biopic because of the casting of Kristen Stewart as Joan but the more I see of the movie the more I get excited about it. The problem is, I can already picture myself seeing it and wanting to ship Joan with Cherie and that is problematic in the fact that okay... it's a movie but these are real people the movie is based on. One of which I've seen live in concert several times and love to death and you know, your kink is not my kink and fandom peace and love and all, but RPS squicks me out majorly and thus the idea I could possibly want to write fanfic based on real people (despite them being from a movie) is making my brain scramble like it's an egg on drugs and hello 80s PSA.

I'm so torn you guys. lol. At least I can take comfort in my Joan love or something. Also, Lita Ford. I love me some Lita Ford. Although I've only seen her twice live. But Lita rocks equally hard.
