After talking on Yahoo Messenger with ackemat I suddenly realized that not everyone who comes to this piddling LJ will know what's the deal with my Rollergirls inspired LJ theme. Thus I am making this post to rectify that horrible assumption on my part. Rollergirls is a totally kick ass reality show on A&E about the women of the TXRD Roller Derby league. There are five teams, The Holy Rollers, Putas del Fuego, Rhinestone Cowgirls, Cherry Bombs, and The Hellcats. The main picture for my LJ theme features from left to right Miss Conduct, Sister Mary Jane, and Punky Bruiser from The Holy Rollers. I chose pictures of them because The Holy Rollers are my favorite team and those are among my favorite players on the team. Who is my number one favorite player? SMJ (Sister Mary Jane) hands down. She's hilarious and super mellow and fucking kick ass on the rink and she happens to be the number one scoring Jammer in the league. Go SMJ! Oh yeah, and she's a special education teacher. I know, different, right?
All of the clips I'm linking are from the second episode titled No Pain, No Jane which focuses on the last place Hellcats going up against the undefeated Holy Rollers. Oh yeah, The Holy Rollers are fucking good all right. It starts with SMJ in class teaching her kids and sort of shows the compare/contrast of the Rollergirls work lives vs. their Roller Derby personas.

Kick ass, no? Damn right! My favorite line from that intro comes from Witch Baby of the Rhinestone Cowgirls at the very end. "And that's what Roller Derby gives you. The knowledge that you are in fact a superhero. And you don't have to wear a cape but you do get to wear the tights." Because, honestly? That's why I love Roller Derby and that's why I want to get back into it again. Plus it's fucking fun and you get to punch and tackle people without getting into trouble. rofl. Yeah, I'm so immature. I also included the series intro and theme song because I think it's cool looking. Plus they use Play My Game by The Donnas!
The next clip I'm linking is the introduction to The Holy Rollers. This is the first time the audience "officially" meets the team and its players. SMJ does the voice over and the super cute Miss Conduct is the pink haired girl singing "joy joy joy down in my heart" to SMJ as she leans into the tiny VW Beetle. The previews for the series tried to set up Miss Conduct as scary or whatever because of her hair and her penchant for dressing entirely at Hot Topic but she honestly is the cutest thing ever, imho. It's so bad but I would date her in a second. I say it's bad because she's a real person and I think it's creepy to crush on real people who you only know from watching them on TV. Since I know it's creepy it makes me not insane, right? Hah. Hopefully. Anyway! Watch the clip and join me in my creepy Miss Conduct is super cute love! You know that you want to.

Do you love The Holy Rollers yet? No? What the fuck is wrong with you? lol. Okay. I see I'll have to bring out the big guns. A clip of them playing against The Hellcats in their first bout. At this point The Holy Rollers are coming back after The Hellcats get a freakish lead over them in the second half. It starts off with SMJ tying the score thanks to her always kick ass skating and jamming then cuts to Miss Conduct and SMJ talking on the sidelines after The Holy Rollers win another jam and are now back in the lead after defeating the large point lead The Hellcats had earlier in the bout. They're talking about Lunatic aka Luna who is a longtime Roller Derby veteran of The Hellcats.
Miss Conduct says Luna must be burning about The Hellcats losing their rather large lead as it now looks quite definite that The Holy Rollers will be walking away with the win for this bout. SMJ agrees with Miss Conduct and the two of them proceed to be super cute and fucking hilarious in taunting Lunatic who is still skating on the rink after just losing the latest jam to one of The Holy Rollers. This scene is one of the reasons why I adore The Holy Rollers, SMJ, and Miss Conduct. Fucking excellent stuff.
