I've expressed my sad love of the Eurovision song contest many times in here and I've been backed up by my online pals from other nations in my love so that makes me happy. But not as happy as finding out from my friend Ryan today that we're going to watch the 2006 song contest taking place May 18 - 20 using his super fast computer and internet connection! Yep, thanks to Ryan we'll be watching a live streaming feed of the contest on his computer that will be temporarily housed at Pip and Stacey's and I couldn't be more excited for Eurovision kicks so much fucking ass and my friends here really MUST know how much American Idol just sucks and is hella weak compared to the fantabulousness of Eurovision.

Hearing the news that I can at long last have my much longed for Eurovision viewing party despite living in the good old US of A immediately sent me scurrying off to the various Eurovision devoted websites I frequent. I ended up on the traditional eurovision.tv website where they have all the videos for the contestants up for viewing. I figured I would link that site now and make a little list of the performances that I think will kick the most ass for Eurovision 2006. For my friends locally who will be at the viewing party these are the folks that I'm sure will be key in making you see why I love this contest so fucking much.

Just click on the Videos portion of the menu at the top of the page. When you're on the videos list then go down the line that says Participants 2006 and click on the country/singer link and then the video for the song that they'll be performing at the contest will pop up in a few seconds for you to watch. The quality is really good so I think you'll enjoy them quite a bit. At least, I hope you will. Especially my first recommendation since she's my favorite. But I love the first two songs so much I'm going to upload them. I still recommend watching the videos before listening to the songs just because the first two have the best videos.

Congratulations by Silvia Night (Iceland)

I don't think Silvia Night, formerly Silvia Nott, will win but my god I KNOW she'll be the most amusing person for me to watch because her live performance for the Iceland semi finals kicked ass and her video for the Athens song? lol. I love it. She's just great in her Eurovision parody tribute and I'm totally sure that she'll be the reason most of my friends at the party will end up really digging watching the contest. I mean, how can you NOT love her? lol. I need to buy some of her stuff as she rocks so hard. Plus she is right. Her song is totally cool. Hee. Silvia? I love you. I'm offically one of your sad fangirls.

Hard Rock Hallelujah by Lordi (Finland)

How to describe Lordi? I know! They're the Finnish pop influenced version of Gwar and my god that fucking kicks ass. lol. Seriously, dude, I LOVE Silvia Night but these guys are just as good as her and their video features a hot goth girl listening to their song on her radio as she wanders through her high school hallway which is good in itself but then it gets fucking great when the band suddenly breaks through the wall of the school gym and the goth girl soon finds herself being attacked by the cheerleaders who are suddenly turned into the undead. I can't wait to see them play this live. Their costumes are bordering on brilliance and I KNOW that like Silvia I will be buying stuff for Lordi now. They're just that goddamn cool. Finnish pop influenced Gwar fucking rules. It rules! lol. How can you not love a song that has the lyric, "On the day of rockening"? Seriously!

Je 'tadore by Kate Ryan (Belgium)

Kate is fucking gorgeous. Not that Eurovision is all about looks but nonetheless, she's fucking gorgeous and it should be acknowledged. I'm someone who likes the songs at Eurovision to be the classic over the top hardcore pop fun. I'm not really a fan of those sad and mopey songs. I want a song that has a huge fucking boom when you see it. I have a feeling that Kate might give us just that. Or at least a really great fun performance. Even if her live performance isn't the best this song will be one of my favorites on the Eurovision 2006 cd without a doubt. Although I totally admit, though hate the movie, this song reminded me of the Say No More (Mon Amour) from Empire Records which is performed the washed up television show singer Rex Manning. Don't know it? I have an audio clip from the movie. Why do I have it? I dunno. Especially since I do dislike the movie. It's not really all that bad but I don't think it's really all that funny either.

But enough of that movie that isn't really bad or good! lol. Back onto the pure goodness of Eurovision.

Ninanajna by Elena Risteska (F.Y.R. Macedonia)

This is utterly simple hip hop pop but much like Kate I think this could be a kick ass live performance. A lot of Eurovision is seeing this great set up music videos like this and then the live version is just flat. Which is why Eurovision is hella fun to bet on and to watch. lol. But man does it hurt when someone has a good recorded song like this and then the live version is just flat. I don't think Elena will turn out that way but it's possible. Right now though? I'm digging this song and video.

We Are The Winners by LT United (Lithuania)

Much like Silvia Night I think these guys will give a great live performance which everyone at the party will love. I mean, their original performance of this song at the semi finals was great and this video is even more hilarious. Who knows what they'll come up for the live show? Something great I bet. I doubt they'll get anywhere close to winning but they'll be super fun to watch, I'm certain.

That's the end of my recommendations for now! I will also say that that Everything by Anna Vissi (Greece) seems to be the early favorite for winning the contest. It's a fantastic song but since it's rather popular I didn't feel like pimping it more in my dinky LJ since all the Eurovision sites are doing that for me. lol. But give that a listen too!

Officially your luck has changed.

First your new job, congratulations about that,
second you will watch the Eurovision song contest.
Now i begin to appreciate Paulo Coelho's words, that if you want something very much, all the forces of the world will plot for you!!

Now that i think about it, I don't know if you need to want something really bad or bitch about it lol...... anyway, you should take advantage of the circumstance
:)

Have fun watching Eurovision
