That's all I can say about the outcome of the 2004 Presidential election. I'm surprised how quickly I went through the five stages of grief about Kerry's loss but hey, there you have it. My parents raised me to be a logical person who can think things through then deal with life and its outcomes maturely. Whining and being depressed about Dubya remaining entrenched in the White House does no good for anyone. Especially me.

But you know, as a fan of the Daily Show, like most intelligent people I know, I have to say this is going to create an endless bonanza of humor on their part. So that's something good. Sort of.

Recently I went in for an interview with the DM for Lids which is a mall store that sells nothing but hats. Hopefully I'll get the job because I'm growing more and more annoyed with Suncoast. The recent cause of this is my new "Manager" being over an hour late on his first day of work and causing me to have to reschedule my dentist appointment. This is annoying to me because he KNEW he was supposed to come in at noon and he was still late. I called him fifteen minutes after and asked him if he knew he was scheduled at noon and he said yes. Then he paused as if waiting for me to say more. I told him he was meant to come in then because I had a dentist appointment and since I don't have insurance my doctor required a deposit for my visit and if I couldn't reschedule due to HIS lateness I would lose 150 dollars.

He claimed he would hurry to get there. He showed up at 1:20 pm. Over an hour later than he was meant to show up. I work with him tomorrow for a very short time and I hope he apologizes to me. If he doesn't then he's on my shit list. Because of this incident I immediately looked into other jobs because I refuse to work with someone who is that irresponsible and inconsiderate on his FIRST DAY as a Manager. Luckily I managed to reschedule for the dentist and made it there barely on time for my 1:40 pm appointment, thus ensuring I didn't throw away 150 of my meager dollars thanks to him.

My only worry is that Lids might pay less than Suncoast. If they match my pay rate or are less by maybe 10 cents I can deal because I'd get more hours with Lids and it would be an easier job. All they care about there are Units Per Transaction and their frequent shopper card and that card is actually a good deal. It costs only five bucks and gives you 20% off all hats and 10% off all apparel. Easy sale, huh?

All My Children is becoming truly hilarious. Greenlee is getting poisoned by the insane little brother of Frankenbrow and thanks to this she's... I have no words. She's just totally out of it. Today she goes on a rant about the mine shaft she fell down being kidnapped but nothing was better than her answering the door naked and letting Kendall and Bianca get a good long rack check before Kendall mentioned with a little grin the fact she was running around nude. Hehe. I love my cheesy soap opera so much. Cheers me right up.

Not much else to say, I'm afraid. Except to tell Teh Sexay I seriously doubt the outsourcing of lawyers will become a widespread phenomena across the nation. I wish I could say the same for IT jobs.

So, having left Suncoast for Target (full time, easily double my SC pay) I find that working at Target isn't much better due to my bosses... the extremely early hours for my position...
Anyway, I take it Amsterdam is off, then?

I -know- I worry too much. ;_; Still, I think I have cause to be concerned: legal work in particular fields is fairly difficult to find, particularly if you're just starting out (because you -do- often begin by doing research for more seasoned attorneys, unless you've been blessed with knowing the right people at the right time). Overall, I'm not worried about outsourcing becoming a widespread phenomenon, but I -am- worried about the possibility of my being in that percentage around 2009, when the trend is likely to have picked up more momentum.

But, yes, I worry too much. I've also been off-again-on-again feverish (which probably contributed to my recent bouts of semi-delirium), and I've been stressing about my move. I've just over three weeks in Austin remaining, and that fact both excites and terrifies me at the same time.

I admire your ability to continue watching AMC. Generally, when I walk into the room and my mother is watching her taped episodes, I run screaming. The Maria/Zach thing, the fact that every woman Ryan touches turns to poison, the fact that poor, poor David is scheming with the likes of Krystal and Babe, the Lily thing (public high school principals - gotta love how determined they are to defend the status quo) . . .

Speaking of which, I wonder - when shallow, obnoxious pretty high school girls watch TV shows and movies where the uncool heroine is cruelly oppressed by shallow, obnoxious pretty high school girls, who do they root for?

Sincerely, Allaine
