Seriously, dude. I suck at outdoor skating. I actually haven't been skating at all at least for over a month. I've been too busy and weirdly stressed out. Most of you are like, what about all the time you skate at Washington University where Michi works? Thing is, isn't that outdoor? How can you suck at outdoor skating if you skate there? Well, wait... most? What is that. Most people don't read this shit. Whatever though, I'm fucking rambling. Tis normal.
But skating on campus is skating on a smoother paved surface sort of close to a rink but I went to a park after getting my new outdoor skates and man, do I suck. I skated half a mile and back and must have fell at least twenty times. AND I was stupid enough not to put on knee pads or gloves so my knees and hands got all ripped up. But! It was strangely fun.
I'm going to go to the rink tonight. Summer hours are 7:30 - 9:30 pm so maybe that will help my confidence but I have this feeling I'll fall there too. lol. I think with me if I don't practice then I just lose it. There's also the fact I haven't skated seriously in ten years. Part of me wants to give up when I fall on my ass but honestly I do have fun skating and I know I'll feel really proud about myself when I manage to skate at a fast pace without falling.
I think for now I'm sticking indoors though. That outdoor experience was embarassing. Particularly since there were people walking their dogs and riding bikes on the same path who kept seeing me flail and fall.

Once I fell on my face on Champs-Elysees. That is one of the more classy moments of my roller blading career so far. The thing with roller blading is that I always forget that you can not come to a quick stop in the same way that you can with hockey skates. This is why God invented lamp posts and buss cubicles, but I never seem to remember it.

What was cute though was when I came back I asked her if she ate and she got all huffy with me. "I ate! I eat!" So I head over to her fridge and she scrambles in front of me sort of waving her hands trying to block me from going around her.
Being a dork and fucking curious, I dodged around her and flung the fridge open. What was inside? A 2 liter bottle of Coke that had maybe an inch of soda in it, a head of lettuce, Thousand Island dressing, Ketchup, a package of multi grain bagels with two in there, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and some grapes.
When I opened it and stared then turned to her the first reaction she had was to blush and get defensive and say, "I ate all the food!" Needless to say, I don't quite believe that.
Is that a cute enough Michi moment? lol.

Skate faster *g*
Honestly, works for me, maybe my non-existent balance is counteracted by velocity, who knows.
Whenever I fall though, my falls kick ass and are rather spectacular, it usually involves flying through the air, noises (me screaming, other people screaming, and sometimes the crash itself - trash cans are particularly loud), and blood. So maybe you should not follow my advice at all.
