Driving to Waldenbooks to see if they had Sensual Phrase vol. 15 I got the idea for an L Word fic. It would take place in the future, years after Dana's death and Helena having moved from LA to London.

During the hook up with Lace there's this long period of almost but not quite romance between Helacious and the tension it creates gets to the point that Helena can't take the situation anymore and leaves LA.

Simply because Alice knows of Helena's feelings, Helena having made them clear, and out of fear Alice just plain refuses to acknowledge the obvious attraction and love they share. Just because she can't bear the thought of loving someone as much as Dana, which is how she feels for Helena, and then losing them as well. Years later, Alice is doing a book tour and Helena comes to one of the book signings. Causing them to renew their friendship and their romantic feelings to resurface as they spend time with each other in London.

If I write this it's going to be a really short fic just because I can't bring myself to write a huge fic right now. I'm wondering how good it would be if it's short though? I'm thinking maybe thirty pages at the maximum. Possibly twenty. The song that totally inspired this fic idea is A Day Late by Anberlin and most likely I'll take the fic title from the lyrics.

ETA: I've written the start of the fic and to prove I'm being a good girl and working on fic I'm posting it here, meager as it is. lol. If you want to see what I have so far then click on the link below. If not, then don't worry. You won't hurt my feelings. But those who do read and like, dislike, love, or hate the fic, do comment, huh?

Time Will Tell

Being on a book tour wasn't something Alice ever envisioned. Then again, writing a book wasn't something she ever envisioned. In fact, Alice didn't think she had ever envisioned anything in her entire life. Not even what she was going to eat for dinner.

Though right now she really did want a good burger.

That was the problem with London, she decided, signing in horribly messy handwriting maybe her hundredth book of the day and forming her very best 'I'm not bored to tears' smile for its owner. There wasn't any place to get a good burger. They had endless places where you could get good fish and chips but Alice didn't want good fish and chips. She wanted a good burger and damn it all if she couldn't find one fucking anywhere in this incredibly fancy city.

Heaving a frustrated sigh, she reached for the latest copy of her book, ready to simply sign messily away but her hand stilled as she looked at the hauntingly familiar and highly ostentatious gold watch in front of her. A watch that simply did not fit the delicate wrist on which it rested. Her throat suddenly going dry, Alice lifted her gaze and swore she felt her heart stop when she found herself greeted by Helena Peabody flashing a brilliant smile that had miraculously not dimmed one little bit in all their years apart.

"Hello darling," said Helena pleasantly.

"Helena," Alice replied in a bare whisper, unable to grasp the idea the other woman was truly in front of her. It had been so long since they had last seen each other, five years and three months and who knows how many days. But that time never took away the regret the blonde felt at how they had parted and the guilt she felt about the reason why. "You're here."

"Yes, I suppose I am," chuckled Helena and then she gently pressed the book into Alice's hands. "Won't you sign this for me? I do admit to being a horrible fan of it, even if for some reason I remain a glaring omission to its text."

"I didn't think you'd want me to write about you," said Alice sadly, ducking her head as she took the book from the brunette. Trying her best to ignore the shiver she experienced when she felt the Helena's soft skin against her own.

"I want you to write whatever you wish," Helena murmured, smiling softly as Alice looked up at her again. "Besides, I do think the subject of The Chart and the varied entangled romances of West Hollywood is a grand idea for a story. And I must commend you for making a Non-Fiction story both entertaining and compelling to the masses. It is a feat."

"Selling lesbian sex isn't hard, Peabody," said Alice in the sardonic but affectionate tone that Helena had missed so dearly.

Not a quiet but not a loud and perhaps a just right cough sounded behind Helena. Suddenly both women realized there was a line of perhaps a hundred or more people behind the brunette waiting for a meager scrap of Alice's attention and her messy scrawl inside their books. The women exchanged sheepish looks then Alice quickly wrote inside inside the book and started to hand it back but stopped as she blurted out, "I want to eat a good burger. Help me find one?"

"Feeling deprived of the old fashioned and calorie laden American form of sustenance, are we?" teased Helena, pulling the book from Alice's grasp and removing the dust jacket. Plucking the Sharpie from the blonde's fingers, she set the dust jacket down and neatly wrote her phone number and address on the inside of it. Handing both over to a still dumbfounded Alice, she chuckled at her expression and said, "Dinner continues to be promptly served at seven, darling. Ring me if you're going to be late."

With that said, Helena scooped the book back into her hands, her gold watch flashing under the florescent lights of the store. Alice sat, feeling stunned and entirely out of sorts while she watched the woman she once cared for more than any other disappear into the crowd at Foyles. Had once cared for, god that was a joke. Helena was the woman that Alice still cared for, and yes, she still cared for her more than any other. More than that, Helena was the woman that Alice would always blame herself for hurting.

But now maybe she could finally make up for that.

lucky you. I am in the process of changing my wardrobe from "student" to "professional", unfortunately I have to look professional or give the impression of that. no more baggy pants and cartoon t-shirts for me, only when I am off from work (should I ever get a job *g*)

I usually trade, my t-shirts disappear, and I take hoodies in return.

I am still proudly wearing my bling watch, which prompted my mom to say "why on god's green earth I am wearing this fugly thing", and my response "but it is a bling watch" didn't really clarify the importance. lol
