You can comment on this if you want or you can ignore the post. Just don’t steal my fucking idea. Bwah. That was not hostile at all. Right? Right. lol. Anyway! I’m driving home from class listening to Wild Energy by Ruslana, I’ll upload the mp3 when I get home because I credit that song with this idea, and I start thinking of potential concepts for a science fiction novel that wouldn’t fit into the norm.

I don’t read anything other than fanfics, Toyfare, tons of manga, and a few comic books so my ideas of what is standard in science fiction novels is probably out of date. But I think I came up with a good idea that maybe some parts have been done but the overall concept, hopefully not.
Begin story idea.
It starts with a young black woman, in her twenties, having a flashback nightmare of her mother being killed by her abusive boyfriend. This, of course, is something that actually happened and the woman witnessed it happening when she was five years old. The catch is she’s having this nightmare in a spaceship that’s been her home for the past fifteen years of her life.
Basically the story is about this huge group of ragtag aliens who are sort of like intergalactic space hippies who go from galaxy to galaxy learning from all types of different cultures and the people on the planet who want to join them on their travels and add to their mosh of alien cultures on board the ship are more than welcome.
They come to Earth and find we haven’t made contact with other alien species so they decide to leave us be as far as making contact but when they see what horrible shape our world is in, the wars, famine, blah blah, like the true bleeding heart alien activists they are they decide to take one person who is truly in need and offer them a place on their ship.
In searching the planet for this person they come upon our main character who is five at the time and is sitting alone in her living room with her dead mother waiting for the police to arrive after the abusive boyfriend has exited the scene, thankfully leaving her alive, and they decide to take her. The little girl has no one after her mother is killed so she decides to go with the aliens.
Fifteen years later she’s twenty and she is curious about her home planet and wants to go back. The aliens that raise her return at her request and see Earth hasn’t changed all that much. She’s still curious so they tell her she can return to the planet and explore her roots as it were but they of course put a concerned parental catch on the situation.
She has a year to spend on Earth and in that year she has to decide whether or not we’re worthy or ready or whatever to learn where she’s been for fifteen years and to discover all of the knowledge the aliens have given her. If she decides we’re not worthy or ready or whatever she gets on her ship and leaves Earth forever. If she decides we are worthy or ready or whatever then the whole fucking world changes.
End story idea.
What do you think? Good? Bad? Ehhhh mediocre to the extreme? But whatever you think, don’t steal my fucking idea! rofl. Kidding, kidding. Not really. Don’t steal it. Even if it has already been done by someone else. Which I’m sure is really quite possible.

Oh I read this book when I was younger "Keeper of the Isis Light" Monica Hughes, also about being raised in a foreign planet.
Quite haunting, I think...
