I went into Suncoast to ask why I haven't been given any hours when all I want is one weekly shift of maybe three hours and they're giving all the hours to newbie Christmas temps. The manager, Steve, then proceeded to tell me it's because he got complaints from Sam Goody about me being rude. I stared blankly at him then said I haven't worked for over a month, how are there complaints? He says it was from before. I then ask when was this, he avoids my question, hems and haws, and won't tell me. All he'll say is that people complained to the Sam Goody manager, Mindy, about me.
Funny thing... everyone at Suncoast but only a manager for two months, Steve, hates Mindy, because she has a tendency to lie her ass off. But enough about that. I basically then spent a few minutes trying to get him to admit he either a) wanted me to quit or b) wanted to fire me. He gave me a smartass smile at one point and said the only thing I care about is the discount anyway, right?
I was left angry and perplexed mostly because I've worked there for a few years now and suddenly as soon as I leave for a better paying, more relaxing, nicer job, complaints come up. Right. That's convenient. I left for school then when I was done with my test I called work to talk to Jeff simply because Steve also said my negative attitude was dragging the store down and he wasn't the only one who felt this way.
I.E. felt that they wanted me to leave. I honestly like Jeff so I called just out of... I don't know, hurt? Curiosity? To find out if he felt I was that bad. He played the safe middle like I thought he would and did some fairly good Steve ass kissing. I got exhausted five minutes into the conversation and told him I don't want to make life hard for anyone so no hard feelings but I quit.
I asked when he's working this week so I can go in and get my money back for movie reservations and what not. Oddly, I even told Jaimie today that I missed Suncoast and I was sad I didn't have any hours as a part timer. After experiencing Steve at pure asshat behavior I no longer feel that way. I'll visit them once Christmas is over or when Steve is gone. Honestly, I know this wouldn't have happened if I was with any other manager. That's probably what is bugging me... Steve implying that throughout all the Suncoasts I'm known as this negative horrible influence that's bad for the store.
You know, I hope that's not true. I didn't think so but who knows. Part of me wants to go into Chesterfield and ask the staff there what they think just because I was happiest at that store with them. Ah well, life goes on and now that I'm free of Suncoast totally I feel... well, lame enough, free. Heh. Life goes on and as my ultra perky District Manager at Lids says (who doesn't think I'm negative since he hired me himself) likes to say...

Yeah, I was there when the thief was arrested and lead out of the mall... we're only speculating that he was stealing from us, no one has any concrete details... except Dave Toomey and Bob (I think that's his superior...?)
