I get to leave work early today. Wheee. I’m taking Vlad to the vet but before I do I’m dropping by the nearest Best Buy to pick up a copy of Superman Returns. Next week it’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest that I’ll be spending some money on.

Probably be giving [livejournal.com profile] jimu a phone call later today to see if he wants to watch it tonight or some other time. I know he hasn’t seen it yet. Or Pirates 2, I think. Maybe I’ll ask him if he wants to see that too. I haven’t spent nearly enough time with him and I want to increase our hang out time. Ditto for his brother, [livejournal.com profile] cylver, whom I find cutely hilarious.

Writing wise, as much as I love recapping it takes a lot of time and I’m an instant gratification sort of girl. Heh. That sounds nicely dirty. But that's why I’ve decided to start a second blog which will just be doing straight up reviews for manga. Which also means I probably won’t be recapping manga on The Nerdiest Girl anymore.

By way of the blog name I’m not sure. I think maybe it would be fun to call it Mistress of Manga or something similar. No doubt I’ll get another domain name and use that to forward to the blog. Just because I like the idea of having an actual domain space. If you have any name suggestions for the manga review blog please let me know!

I appreciate the help. And, you know, anyone reading the reviews once it gets started up.

ETA: I'm too efficient at this fucking job. I mean it! I'm currently writing recommendation letters for stuff due in February. Waugh. So bored.

Yay!

I'm cute, hilarious and sweet!

It's odd how only the girls who have no interest in dating me seem to think so, though.

No worries. The same goes for me. lol. The girls who always like and understand me best never want to date me or live on the other side of the country. Or sometimes in other countries.

Que sera or something. Is that spelled right? Oh well. lol.

I bought it because I like the movie a great deal. Why do I like it? Because before this movie I had no interest in Superman as a character. He was a big blue boyscout that was boring as fuck. Singer gave his character depth and managed to make him sympathetic to me in the fact it explored how he really is an orphan in the most real sense of the word.

He's the last of his kind and he's lost the most physical sense of home that a person can have. I dunno. I could go on longer about why I like the film but that's the gist of it. It made Superman a more human by way of personality and made him less of an empty cardboard "I always do the right thing because that's who I am" type of person.

holy fuck! and honest answer..wow..thankyou very much for that..honestly..seriously..thank you. *grins*

I have been having this Superman discussion with folks..and when I have asked those that have liked the movie..no one gave such a valid perspective...

personally the movie didn't do it for me..because they didnt allow him to be "super" enough..Lois Lane was more..and well less...I mean she got thrown around the inside of the plane like a gerbil in a dryer..and no damage..only to faint when she sees Superman?..same with the boat/door thing..she felt hollow as a character..to me.

Ok Superman IS a boyscout..he is the Big Blue..always do the right thing...my question was always..at what cost...that to me would have made him more human.

Singer was intent on making an atmosphere..but it was the same one he used for X-men...and he didnt take it far enough..for me..I wont go into the effects and such..thats another issue thats not all his fault...I look at films with different eyes now..and I cant go back to what I was..so I have to ask others what they see.

lastly.."play Misty for me"..lol..I was just listening to that song.

Cool beans.

Sincerely, Allaine

P.S. So, Binks is getting hit on by a transsexual character named Zarf.

I think the writers' have lost their last brain cells.

Wait? Transsexual character named Zarf? This is what happens when I don't watch for a week? That is insane.

More importantly is Zarf male to female or female to male? Post operation or pre-operation? I'm all in favor for transsexual characters being featured but I worry at AMC's ability to do it well.

From what I read on Yahoo! News, Zarf is a male rock star, sort of a Ziggy Stardust ripoff, who decides he must be a woman on the inside because he's attracted to a lesbian.

Normally I'd assume something got lost in the translation, but this IS AMC we're talking about.

Sincerely, Allaine

Dude, suck ass. I have to watch AMC just out of perverse curiosity on how bad this is going to be.
