I just got back from seeing The Incredible Hulk with my brother.

First off, I loved this movie. It probably wasn't as good as Iron Man and it did have its slow moments, just like Iron Man did, but Marvel is proving that movies they control are among the most kick ass comic book movies being made. I cannot wait to see the Wolverine movie now and not just for the Hugh Jackman pretty.

Some people have been complaining about Edward Norton as Bruce Banner and then the CGI Hulk not being realistic enough. I have no idea what's to complain about Edward Norton, he does a great job. He's not buff enough? He's too skinny? Too nerdy? What? Bruce Banner is a geek! As for the CGI Hulk not being realistic I'd like to see what the hell these people think a realistic Hulk would look like since he kinda sorta doesn't exist.

I'm assuming a bodybuilder decked out in green body paint for the old skool complainers.

One of the things I loved the most about this is probably what makes me so damn sad and such a nerd is all the great in referencing the movie has. Like when the Army investigator computers turn on and they have SHIELD on their desktops or the weapons saying Stark Industries or the file reports having assigned agent Nick Fury on them. All of that stuff made my little fangirl heart go pitter patter. It was great.

Plus Lou Ferrigno with a very visible cameo and apparently Bill Bixby with a less obvious one. And the classic purple Hulk pants make a brief appearance when Betty purchases them for Bruce and he shoots them down as a fashion choice only after she gets cutely huffy and claims she got them because, "These were the stretchiest ones they had!"

Also, "Hulk smash!" is indeed a line in the film. Along with the theme to The Hulk tv show which was surprisingly appropriate and probably overlooked by some if you're not careful.

The best in referencing to me were the scenes that hinted again at the Avengers movie being made. There's two scenes were General Ross speaks about an abandoned genetic research program that was done in the WWII era to create a super soldier. That's a nod to my boy Captain America, who had better show up in the Avengers movie or I'll be so many forms of upset. Then at the end of the movie we're treated to a fabulous Tony Stark appearance where he talks about that abandoned program needing to stay dead and how there's a team being formed that the General might be interested in.

Oh so much excellence people.

I know this isn't a very cohesive review but you know, I don't really like doing reviews. I more like gushing and squeeing about my favorite parts of a movie or tv show or bitching about the parts I hated. This movie is all about my fangirl happiness though. For any comic book nerds this is a big recommendation to go see.

And the previews make Hellboy 2 look like sheer awesomeness.

Dude! I must see that scene now. Hopefully whoever they got for the cameo actually looks like Steve Rogers. It's kind of sad how much I love Cap. Reading his book is what got me addicted to comics at the tender age of six so I've got a huge soft spot for him. I really can't wait to see him appear in a decent movie for once.
