Pirates and rap aren't something that people usually associate together but trust me, it's so meant to be. At least when Captain Dan & The Scurvy Crew are concerned. I'm an admitted music whore but my favorite genre has been ska/punk since my late twenties just because it tends to be a more ironic and funny genre that doesn't take itself too seriously. That being said, I love humorous music as well and I do have a certain fondness for rap.

This band is brilliant and I really recommend if you like the song I link for you that you check out their website and give their cds a download at CD Baby since they surely deserve the money. Anyway! Here's a link to my favorite song on their second album, Rimes of the Hip Hop Mariners. It's called Broadside and is a brilliant rap battle that features Pirates vs. British Navy. Though I love the pirates I think the Navy boys win this battle but I could be influenced by how adorable I find their polite accents rapping.

Of course, being the icon making addicted person I am I had to make an awesome Angela Lansbury icon from her role as Ruth in Pirates of Penzance. I wish they would come out with the movie she did with Kevin Kline for that on dvd already. It was my favorite as a kid. That and Zorro: The Gay Blade with George Hamilton.
