Anette Olzon replacing Tarja Turunen as the lead singer of Nightwish has been a wanked about and much debated things in symphonic metal circles but personally, I like her sound. Dark Passion Play was a kick ass cd even if it was a bit more commercial than Nightwish' usual stuff.

Nightwish just released their second cd with Anette, Imaginaerum, and if you want to give it a listen you can download it HERE.

I'm a bit undecided. I love Anette's vocals like mad and I think their single, Storytime, is awesome. I'm also fond of I Want My Tears Back and Song of Myself. I have to admit that I do find Within Temptation's new cd, The Unforgiving, to be more kick ass.

Then again, Sharon den Adel has always been my favorite symphonic metal singer hands down. She's made of the fierce. How can you not love her?

I cannot wait. I'm going to see this tomorrow with my brother and Katie. I would've gone to a midnight show tonight but my brother really wanted to see it with me and he's wiped from studying for the bar exam so he couldn't do a midnight show.

Anyway! Here's a trailer of the awesomeness.

I'm unnaturally attached to Cap because my mom got me a subscription to the Captain America comic book when I was eight years old to encourage my interest in reading and I've been hooked ever since. I know he's not the coolest superhero but he's a good, decent, honest guy and he's somehow not boring (to me anyway) despite this and thus he's my favorite superhero and I think with how great Marvel movies have been lately (I loved Iron Man 2, Thor, and X-Men First Class) that a period piece WWII Captain America movie should kick ass.

Oh yeah! Want an ear worm? Here's one from X-Men First Class soundtrack Love Love by Take That. Which is what I'm sure I'll be feeling about Cap's movie tomorrow. So excited you guys. I cannot wait to see him throw his mighty shield.

Haha. So stupid. I fangirl so much over him.

ETA: You guyssssss! SyFy is showing the bad Captain America movies tomorrow! I don't care. I'm dvr'ing those suckers and recording them for posterity. Awesome.

ETA ETA: Just got back from seeing the movie with my brother and Katie. I loved it! Chris Evans does a perfect job and it followed comic book canon so well I couldn't be happier. Even his original not round shield costume was used! And Bucky! And Peggy Carter! And Red Skull! And Nick Fury! And you guys, don't leave the theater early! Cool shit happens after the credits. Now I'm even more excited for The Avengers. So much awesome. I love Marvel.

Because they are super awesome you guys )

Good music like Adele's new album, featuring the song Rolling In The Deep, makes me super happy. Thus I share. Click on the above link to download the mp3 or you can just watch the music video provided below. I really want to see her live someday.

Also, in random fandom news, I have the attention span of a flea and am now obsessed with the Resident Evil movies. Thus proving my attention moving at the speed of light for fanfic projects, I have already plotted out a fic that features Alice/Jill and Alice/Claire shipping in it. I don't foresee it being long. I want to finish and post it by next week to get over my Resident Evil fixation and move onto my unfinished projects.

Anyway! Adele awesome music video away!

I'll be helping [livejournal.com profile] allaine77 co-host his radio show Femslash 4 Fans tonight at 10 PM EST. We'll be talking to Erica Friedman about Yuri and her various projects. Well, Allaine will. I'll mostly be a goof talking to a friend. Blurb away!

This month Femslash4Fans finally embraces a broad segment of lesbian fan fiction on the Internet that we've only scratched the surface on - anime and manga. With a year having already gone by since my segment on Mai-HiME, in September F4F will be doing two shows on anime/manga femslash, or more accurately "yuri". And when you think yuri, you think of Yuricon, the anime/manga convention that has been running since the turn of the millenium. And THAT naturally leads to thoughts of tonight's guest, Yuricon creator Erica Friedman. Starting small in 2000 with a virtual convention called AniLesboCon, it wasn't long before Friedman not only turned this into the Yuricon we know today, but also launched ALC Publishing, which has introduced many Americans to manga with its own original content, as well as English translations of Japanese comics. And if that wasn't enough, she writes the yuri review blog Okazu. Oh yeah, and she may have written some fanfic of her own too. Dreiser makes her second appearance on F4F as a co-host, as together we ask Friedman about all of the above, and more. How did it all get started, how are things now, and where does she see it all going?

This is an awesome cover of Breakin' Dishes by Chase and the Reach. Ahh, I love my cover songs. Seriously. One day I need to do an upload of all my favorite ones to share.

I'm an admitted music whore and I have an embarassing habit of singing certain songs out loud. The songs that I do this with are ones that for whatever reason just make me feel happy and I just am seized by the impulse to sing along. If you want to give some of these songs a listen and maybe a sing along like I do you can find them here and here.

ETA: I had to put in the theme to Mahogany by Diana Ross just because I drove [livejournal.com profile] oneiric22 nuts singing it when we were at Otakon. He just doesn't appreciate Diana. lol.

I'm a huge music whore. I listen to pretty much everything and I'm fairly shameless with my taste. I mean, I have Selena Gomez and Jonas Brothers songs on my computer. Yeah, that tells you everything you need to know. I'm also a huge fan of sharing so I've decided to randomly upload five mp3s every other week or so to share.

This is going to be like the surprise in the Cracker Jack box in that you don't know what's there until you're done. In this case, done downloading. Anyway! Want some random mp3s? Click Here.

Saturday, March 13th, 2010 07:13 pm
I'm not sure how many folks who read my Whip It fanfics have heard Juliette Lewis' music but if they haven't they really should because it's quite awesome. Which is why I offer it to you in a zip file for download. The zipped folder contains all three cds from Juliette & The Licks as well as her solo cd Terra Incognita. Please enjoy!

Also? It's the evil midnight knitter what knits at midnight!

ETA: MediaFire emailed me to say seventeen people downloaded the file so... lol. I'm glad some of you are enjoying the music! I hate the idea of uploading music to share and no one actually takes me up on the sharing. Because, you know, my mom taught me sharing is good.

Or should I say, more accurately, The Misfits MP3s with one or two ones from Jem & The Holograms and The Stingers along with a cover band, Spleen, doing many songs by The Misfits and others. Wow. That was a really long sentence. Anyway. MP3s of The Misfits, Jem, and The Stingers I have them. Along with super awesome punk covers of many of their songs by the band Spleen.

LJ Cut for sad prattle )

I just got off the phone with Suzanna, my ex-gf, who is the most femme woman I know. I mean, she doesn't own a pair of pants nor jeans. Her wardrobe consists solely of skirts and dresses and a myriad of high heels. Anyway! I totally forgot part of her "I'm going out and getting pretty" routine was to play the song I Am Body Beautiful by Salt N Pepa from the soundtrack for To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything Julie Newmar while she puts on her make up via the opening scene in the movie. It cracks me up so much she does this. I find it super cute.

Now I totally want to watch this movie again. I know that Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze don't make the prettiest drag queens but they are super fierce in this movie. However, John Leguizamo? So pretty at the end! lol.

I think most everyone on my friendslist loves the new Star Trek movie and that being so, I thought maybe they might appreciate a few songs from my favorite Star Trek tribute band, Warp 11, who are just made of so much win. If you like the songs I give you then I encourage you to buy their cds because really, everything they do is fucking awesome.

Old Country Doctor (The Ballad of Bones) : Kirk Gets Laid Again : Help Me Spock : Sto Vo Kor : Trekquiem : Tribbles and Ecstasy

My musical fixation with British rapping continues. Missy Elliot shows up a lot of places. I thought couldn't love her more for being on a Ruslana track but this is pretty damn good too.

dreiser: (Eurovision: Kate Ryan Approves)
Saturday, May 16th, 2009 01:45 pm
Eurovision has started! Yay! I'll post with a ton of videos and my rambling recap later tonight or tomorrow depending on how speedy all the Eurovision fans are with uploading the live final performances on YouTube. In the meantime, have some free songs from my favorite entries to the contest. It's sad how much I fucking love Eurovision but whatever. I shall not be ashamed of my joy for it.

Ukraine: Be My Valentine (Anti-Crisis Girl) by Svetlana Loboda

Turkey: Dum Tek Tek (Boom Bang Bang) by Hadise

And this has nothing to do with Eurovision but I've been listening to Lady Sovereign's new album constantly lately so I figured I would share my favorite track of the moment which is So Human.
dreiser: (AMC: Bianca/Reese Smiles)
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 06:32 pm
I'm feeling less sick today but buzzed from meds. My thoughts are less of this episode, which was good even though it had a severe lack of Annie and Aidan, and more on Bianca's status in her various ships and the fans who support them.

Cut for tl;dr Bianca thoughts. This is just me and my thoughts. I'm not referencing people. I just read a crap load of Bianca/Lena old school fics that have her portrayed as a whiny brat and been to a few Bianca hating boards. )

My obsession with French music continues. I love living in the Midwest but one of the rare dislikes I have about living here is that sometimes it's next to impossible to live in the Midwest and see really great international musicians when they come over to the states. They tend to stick to the east and west coast leaving out us poor peons who populate most of the country in the middle.

Praise Jeebus and Al Gore for the interwebs. )

Honestly, she does. Tamara Braun is a really good crier. Not a skill to be underestimated in the world of soaps. I'm actually going to link and babble about things not All My Children related and it might get long and thus...

LJ Cut because I'm so nice. )
dreiser: (Lazytown: Do Not Want)
Monday, December 15th, 2008 04:33 pm
Lazytown is a children's show from Iceland which is batshit insane. Sort of like a lot of things from Iceland. Lil Jon is a rapper who is mostly incomprehensible in his curse filled lyrics. Combine them and you get much funny. I'm still irked, btw, that I've been unable to find Silvia Night's album Goldmine from my usual overseas music resources. Suck ass, people. Silvia is hilarious Icelandic comedy love!

Iceland is home of a lot of funny shit for some reason. Here's an example of it.

Though to be fair, half of that funny shit is from the USA but I think Lazytown is far more amusing than Lil Jon. Even if it is a disturbing kids show.

I'm a gigantic music whore and I love going to see people live. I've seen Pink four times in concert and she gives probably one of the best shows out there. Needless to say, I'm super jealous that one of my friends over in the UK got to see her live giving this performance...

Bastard! I envy you! I've never gotten to see her perform in such an intimate setting. I love her new album like burning, whatever the hell that means, and my favorite song is Bad Influence which you can download at that provided link.
