That's what this episode was all about honestly. And I can't say I blame Bianca for being insecure given her girlfriend history. I'm going to link a few videos and even a random music download because I'm a sad person soooo...
Anyone who thinks Bianca is being super annoying with her insecurities lets pause for a moment and go through her romantic history, shall we?
Sarah: Teenage love affair, first girlfriend, first time Bianca has sex, has super controlling parents and she can't deal with the idea of coming out to them, breaks up with Bianca, marrying a guy that her parents picked out for her.
Frankie: Teenage love affair two, not really official girlfriend, they don't get busy but Frankie does love Bianca and says so, but after she says this Bianca catches her in bed with JR and then she is promptly murdered before their relationship has any sort of resolution to it.
Lena: Young adult love affair, comes into town with Michael Cambias who would later rape Bianca and starts a relationship with Bianca out of hopes of conning a super secret cosmetics formula out of Binks, she falls in love with her mark, they have sex, Bianca finds out about Lena being a con and sleeping with Michael while romantically pursuing Bianca.
Maggie: Teenage turned young adult love affair, spends around a four year period going back and forth with Bianca about is she gay or isn't she gay, is she attracted and in love with Bianca or isn't she, declares she loves Bianca but promptly shacks up with a dude after saying this, hooks up with Bianca finally after years of this then promptly cheats on Bianca with another woman. At least it wasn't a man.
With that sort of fucked up romantic history wouldn't you be a wee bit insecure if you suddenly found out your fiance whom you assumed had only dated women was in fact the opposite and had only dated men and was engaged to one a few weeks before meeting you and beginning your epic whirlwind love affair? Yeahhhh. Bianca's insecurity is totally justified methinks.
Not to say it isn't fucking annoying. Especially after that super cute kiss in front of the pervy construction worker and the romantic evening that Reese had planned. I am glad Bianca admitted to her insecurity and they're talking things through. Very encouraging. But would they stop playing that one French song over and over for all their romantic scenes? I've been obsessed with French music because of my AMC fanfic and I know there is a deluge of great romantic songs from France they could use. They don't need to keep using just that one.
Videos away! Watch top to bottom in order.
I'm getting back into One Life To Live because of a strange inability to change the channel after I finish watching All My Children. Plus I sort of like their characters more despite the lack of Bianca and Reese fabulous. All My Children is all about the Kanes and Chandlers for me with David, Aidan, and Annie as added awesome. OLTL I like everyone on the show which is sort of weird to realize.
My main reason for watching is the character of Tea Delgado returning. I'm developing a sad crush on her and the way she says her name. I mentioned this in an earlier post but now I have video evidence of her name saying sexiness!
You cannot tell me that's not made of win. She's super sexy, imho. Plus today she took a phone call and was all I'm totally up to no good secretive with whoever she was talking with on the phone. Much love! Tea is great.
I've been listening to Yael Naim nonstop and she has the most mellow soothing voice and has done a super slowed down cover of Britney Spears song Toxic. It's a really great cover and her voice is just outstanding. I encourage everyone to download it and give her version a listen.

I don't think we're ever going to get true parity with this couple; they didn't see one another across a crowded room, eye shag, then promptly roll around half nekkid between the sheets as per most soap couples. Instead what we're getting is a deeper intimacy: the touches, the kisses, the frequent declarations of love, all of which is kind of unusual for daytime. I find it amazing that the show is raising the topic of bisexuality, even if only as a sidebar to Bianca's issues. The writing this week has been spot on, as it was during Reese's reveal about her parents. Also, the musical cues during these scenes have been unusually good. (Except for that damn French song. How about some Carla Bruni, fer godsake!) The fact that E & T are knocking it out of the park is terrific.
I had to watch the final moments where Reese says "You are my first, Bianca, in every way that counts," several times to register some wonderful nuances: Tamara's line reading; Eden's softly rasped, "Really" and her pained noise as Bianca tries to quell her insecurities; the expression on Tam's face immediately after that and her sympathetic and reassuring "Sweetheart"; Reese sweetly asking about Sarah and then of course Bianca's final, pained admission. If the rest of their scenes thus far had been utter shite, it would've been worth it just to see that final minute.
And still, I can't wait for tomorrow!
Jeez, do I sound like a fangirl?

As for bisexuality, it's only a mention because Bianca for some reason can't grasp that a woman can be a lesbian and still have had unsatisfying heterosexual sex. And that is where my annoyance with her comes from. Her asking if Reese had sex with the men she dated comes off very childish to me. I was glad to see that Reese's response to it was very, "Duh."
This isn't to say I don't love all their scenes, I do, and as a soap fan I'm happy with how they're portrayed. They do have a wonderful romantic connection that is painfully over emphasized by saying love of my life constantly. But I've always had some annoyance with Bianca's character at certain points over the years. A big one being her forgiveness of Babe. Just like I have irritation about my spoiler based theories on Reese's engagement and romantic history being totally blown out of the water these past two weeks. I had been hoping Reese was on the down low with women but nope.
My fanfic history is totally fucked for canon now. lol. Ah well.

Uh? Srlsy?

Yes, THANK YOU. I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Seriously, AMC - get creative.

I'm really liking how Tamara and Eden are playing these scenes for all they're worth. Tamara is being so patient as Reese, willing to talk this out, whatever Bianca needs, putting herself out there with a minimum of drama. Eden is just so good at playing vunerability, it's impossible not to empathize and want to make her feel better.
The dialog continues to be surprisingly good, and yet these insecurities are coming like over a year too late. Bianca's been sleeping with Reese for over a year now. She knows her intimately. She should know by now that Reese is completely into her. It's hard to imagine that Reese's past with men would create such insecurities at this stage in the relationship. I get the insecurities with the other girls. None of them had been committed to Bianca for as long as Reese has been and that was part of the problem. Bianca didn't have the girl in these other relationships. With Reese, she does.
I think part of what's not working is that the show is exploring the relationship a year after the fact. Some of these issues make sense to explore early on when people get together. Unfortunately, AMC skipped the beginning of their romance, but they still want to maximize the drama, so they're having to bring issues up at a late point in the relationship timeline and overdramatize them. That's breaking some of the logic of the relationship and the characters.
Anyways, none of this is so bad that it's preventing me from enjoying the pretty, so :D.

This! I totally agree. It doesn't make sense. You verbalized another reason for my annoyance. lol. Thanks much.
Dude, nothing can make me not enjoy the pretty. It's like not enjoying The Rack. It is simply not possible. I'm really happy with them overall but like an sad fangirl I always find stuff to quibble about.
The kiss with Zach has been released in a few spoilers posted on that Bianca/Reese board I'm always pimping. Supposedly it's a friendly kiss but who the hell knows. If/When Binks finds out it will cause more drama.
