All My Fanfic
I'm an insomniac, right? Last night I was lucky enough to chat with
sulkygeek during my bout of sleeplessness. Ever since we happened upon each other in The L Word fandom we've had this habit of chatting about fanfics and bouncing ideas for story plots, scenes, and dialogue off one another. I always have so much fun talking to her and it's an explosion of geeky joy when I see her online basically.
Although I do love Elizabeth Hendrickson I've never been a fan of BAM just because of the shippers somewhat insane and marked hostility to characters other than Maggie interacting with Bianca romantically.
sulkygeek likes BAM though and is writing fic for them which I know is superb because she's got massive talent for writing brilliant angst and lets face it, Maggie has a fucked up history with her family and is angsty.
We started talking about fanfic and Bammers being crazy, she's one of the fans of the ship that admits a lot the fans are more than a bit scarily enthusiastic about their ship. I think at one point she told me some people on a certain board were saying Reese looks like a lemur. Which, come on, don't be such fucking petty babies. You can't look at Tamara Braun and not acknowledge she's attractive. Her looks might not be to your taste but she is pretty. You don't need to make shit up just because you don't like Reese being with Bianca.
Somehow or another I got the idea for what would be a long and probably the most torturous fanfic ever for Bammers using the age old romantic triangle situation but instead of Reese fighting for Bianca's love with Maggie the fic would have BAM still together.
Then what happens? Well, the age old story with soap operas, a dead character isn't really dead. Frankie didn't actually die, she had her death faked and she went into witness protection where, if you want to put this on the actual show itself and recast Frankie without having Bammers go batshit insane, say that due to her injuries or for her safety she had reconstructive surgery. While in witness protection, Frankie's situation is found out by Anna Devane and Frankie is taken in by her agency and begins kick ass spy training.
Frankie proceeds to work for Anna for several years being a spy and staying a bad girl but gaining maturity due to her new career. Finally the risk to her is determined to be gone and she comes back into town, revealing to Bianca and Maggie she's still alive. The more time Frankie spends with Bianca the more they realize how the way their relationship ended, with Frankie "dying" right after she admitted to being in love with Bianca, has left them with some definite unresolved feelings.
Thus begins the sister vs. sister battle for Bianca's love. For the fic to be truly effective and torturous it would have to be written in such a way we get insight into each characters thoughts and readers don't know until the last chapter who Bianca ends up choosing. Frankie vs. Maggie would be interesting because Frankie is more fucked up but she's also more fun and carefree and unlike Maggie I think Frankie is a lesbian and as an adult would be very comfortable with her sexuality. Maggie is more stable and open emotionally but her confusion I think comes from not understanding it's possible to like sex with men and be attracted to Bianca. They both have really compelling qualities.
One of the major issues I think would be Miranda. I can see Maggie going off at Frankie at one point saying that even if she's more mature she's got this super dangerous job and she would be bringing risk into Miranda's life if she was to be with Bianca. Which is so not needed when you think about the babyswitch and all the Cambias drama already surrounding the poor kid. This would cause Frankie to probably descend into that angst we saw from her early on in her appearance on the show. I think the conflict between them and then Bianca's confusion about her unresolved feelings for Frankie and her devotion to Maggie would create a really compelling story if done correctly.
I'd love to see this fic. I want
sulkygeek to write it for me. lol. She probably won't though and I don't think I would ever write it because while I do love Elizabeth Hendrickson I only really liked her playing Frankie. I wasn't ever fond of Maggie with Bianca and I can't see me writing a huge fanfic that involves BAM romance. That being said, that fic idea led to this fic idea...
Everyone in the Bianca/Reese fandom wants the love triangle with Maggie on the show or in fanfic because it's a good idea and it brings the drama. But like I just said, I don't much like BAM and rather not write them. What I'd like to write and I'm actually considering doing this one if I still feel like it after I finish my current AMC fanfic is to use the love triangle but instead have Frankie as the third party.
Have the story start up at the end of the Bianca/Reese run on the show and keep them in Pine Valley. Same scenario with Frankie being in witness protection and working for Anna Devane. After she tells Maggie she's alive she goes to see Bianca because, again, all those unresolved feelings and Bianca being the first person who really loved her and she was ever in love with.
From there it starts a love triangle with Reese/Bianca/Frankie and perhaps add some tension in from Reese being a bit of a workaholic and Bianca feeling neglected. I could have Frankie stick around Pine Valley by getting a job working with Aidan and Annie who, since I love them like burning, would be married and running some sort of private investigation/law enforcement type company together and generally be a bad ass couple who torture Ryan with their awesomeness. lol. The same conflict with Frankie having a dangerous job would come into effect in terms of Miranda in this fic too but Reese would bring it up and Frankie would have the same angstified reaction to this accusation which would cause Bianca to run off after her to comfort and leads to clandestine romantic scenes that leave Bianca feeling guilt ridden.
Maggie wouldn't physically appear but Frankie would talk to her constantly on the phone and Maggie would be the voice of reason about Frankie should give up on Bianca. They could commiserate about how Bianca gets under your skin and you can't shake her even when you try to. She'd be there giving advice and support as by this point she's moved on and is either with another man or woman since I always considered Maggie to be bisexual and not a lesbian like I figure Frankie is. In this fic I'd definitely go with the whole facial reconstruction. I'm so sad that I even have the scene when Bianca sees Frankie again running through my head. I figure I'd write something like this:
There were certain things that Bianca noted always happened to her that didn't to most people. Usually they involved the dramatic, things like believing her daughter was dead for almost a year, and the propensity for being involved in disastrous situations like explosions and giving birth in the aftermath of a tornado. One of the least dramatic of the dramatic things that often occurred to Bianca was the fact that she would be on her way out the door and upon opening it would suddenly be confronted with a stranger. This happened to her more times than she could count and despite it seeming to always happen, it never failed to surprise and momentarily scare her.
Which was her exact reaction now when she opened the door and was greeted by a petite woman with light brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. Releasing her usual startled cry and pressing a hand to her chest, Bianca looked at the woman who was already apologizing and said a bit breathlessly, a smile now on her face, "You surprised me."
"I was about to knock, I swear to god," said the woman with a laugh, holding up her hands as if in surrender.
Instead of responding immediately, Bianca continued to look at the woman, trying to place her but finding herself unable. Something that bothered her because there was a familiarity she felt on seeing her. Like she should know who this person was but she didn't and Bianca frowned, studying the sharp planes of her face, attempting to discern where she knew this woman from. Soon she found herself lost upon looking into dark brown eyes that were shining with a naughty sort of humor, one that left her with a feeling of déjà vu. "I'm sorry," she apologized a bit ruefully. "This might sound bad but do I know you?"
"It's been awhile," the woman admitted, a wicked sort of playfulness on her features and she clucked on her tongue as she rocked back on her heels, pulling her hands out of the pockets of her perfectly fitting black pants to gesture extravagantly. "And I do look different from the last time we were together but I was hoping you'd still see something of me in there, Biancala."
Dramatic things happened to Bianca Montgomery. So many ridiculously dramatic things that she considered herself used to them. Even immune to a certain degree but in that moment she knew she was wrong. She felt herself become light headed as she looked into eyes that suddenly were so easily recognizable and she knew this woman wasn't lying. That somehow, some way, this woman was Mary Francis Stone, Frankie, her first legitimate if not tragic attempt at having a girlfriend and she wasn't dead, she was standing in front of her with a brand new face but with those same brown eyes, irresistible and eager like a puppy, wanting nothing more than to be loved.
Her course of action was simple. Bianca fainted.
Fast enough that Frankie, even with all of her training over the years from Anna, almost didn't manage to catch her before she hit the ground but she was quick and she was spry as she often liked to kid, and she soon had Bianca in her arms for the first time in years. They never got to have a real relationship, not the kind she longed for, not the kind she honestly wanted but had been scared of as a teenager. It had been so hard because of her family history to trust Bianca really was as good as she seemed and by the time she trusted she had been whisked away by witness protection, who wanted all her information on Proteus and Frankie had been forced to forget her old life, the person she used to be. Though it helped when Anna got her out of the program and gave her a focus in life by joining the agency and it felt good to know her life made a difference now, that she was helping people instead of hurting them.
Frankie didn't expect to feel so much on seeing Bianca again but she did and it was magnified by holding her now. When they were together, they were just kids really, and Bianca only held the promise of what a beautiful woman she would become, lush with curves and valleys that Frankie had to concentrate very hard about not wanting to explore as she felt them pressed up against her own much smaller and wiry frame. Finally she heard a sigh which was impossibly cute and Bianca's eyes fluttered open, hazily taking her in.
A hand slowly rose up, trembling and touching her in an almost hesitant caress, her eyes wide in disbelief, and her sweet voice thick with tears, Bianca whispered, "Frankie?"
"About time you recognized me," Frankie responded with a smirk, tears emerging simply from seeing them in Bianca, her tones rough.
And that's all I have for the scene! lol.
But wouldn't it make a good fic? I want to write it but I have a short attention span and I know if I start another longer fic I won't finish my current one and I must finish it because... well, I dunno. I just must. If you're not familiar with Frankie and the whole Biancala thing here's her first appearance which was filled with the adorable gay.
Okay. I'm done with my fucking AMC fic idea ramblings. I'm off to eat dinner then celebrate New Years. All of those who read this don't mock me for my lameness and have a happy one!
ETA: None of you mocked me. I'm somewhat shocked. I might have to post more of my cracky fic ideas on LJ to see what people think of them. Lord knows I have a lot of them and they don't ever seem to go away. When I was writing this entry I failed to put in another AMC fic idea I had earlier last year before news of Eden's return to the show was released. It would be a crossover, my first attempt at writing one because I hate mixing universes, with The L Word. I also had this idea before all the crack is wack spoilers about the show's final season was released and confirmed Ilene Chaiken is an agent of Satan.
The reason I wanted to crossover these two shows is because I think they're super similar as they're both soap operas. IC might try to pimp The L Word like it's fucking lesbian Shakespeare but it's not. It's basically lesbian Dynasty and Tina is Krystal and Bette is Alexis but they're a couple and have smaller hair and their actresses can act better. I think the characters would mesh well from both shows and I especially think in The L Word universe Bianca Montgomery would be considered a celebrity. Their universe is very pop culture focused in a lot of ways and Erica Kane would be a HUGE pop culture icon, basically a form of American royalty, if you will.
Bianca's very visible and painful coming out at the Crystal Ball which was splashed all over the tabloids as well as other news sources then you have the even more publicized rape trial of Michael Cambias and the murder trial of her sister, Kendall, where it was ultimately revealed by Bianca herself in the courtroom that she murdered her rapist. This would have to be all over the fucking news. I'm thinking the murder trial shit would be on CNN. With all the dramatic ass crap that's happened to Bianca over the years and the fact that's she's super open about her sexuality and her mom is pretty much the tiny Italian diva version of Mary Kay/Oprah/Diana Von Furstenberg there's no way Bianca isn't a celebrity figure in the lesbian community and someone well known to The L Word characters.
All right, enough of my reasoning why the two shows could work if crossed over. The plot idea would basically have the fic occur right after Bianca leaves Pine Valley after the Satin Slayer debacle. She returns to Paris, ends things with Zoe, but doesn't meet Reese, and becomes restless working at Cambias and starts contemplating her professional life. It's not what she really wanted. Business isn't her thing but despite everything she was fulfilled by creating the Miranda Center way back when. That's when she contacts Zach and broaches him about the idea of starting a charity division of Cambias Industries, bringing up his worries about the Cambias curse, and blah de blah, what better way to get rid of it than to start a super huge charity? Zach agrees.
While Bianca's setting up the charity with him in Pine Valley, he knows someone who knows someone at the Peabody Foundation and suggests Bianca get in contact with Helena Peabody about the dynamics behind starting and running a large corporate charity. Saying she knows a lot about such things. Bianca does and flies out to LA and meets with Helena about her idea for the Cambias Foundation. Bianca wants it to be focused mainly on gay and lesbian civil rights, things like getting easier adoptive rights for gay parents, gay marriage, and also focusing on community development in the poor urban areas. Helena loves this idea and they click in the meeting and Bianca suggests they join forces, their two foundations working together to achieve these goals, Helena who is newly in charge of her bling bling money again, agrees to it.
Moving to LA at this point is a natural decision for Bianca and since it's fucking closer than Paris her family is somewhat happy about the situation. As they work together more and more Helena and Bianca become closer and they discover all the multitude of things they have in common from their kids to their histories with their mothers to their romantic relationship disasters. Now you should guess by now I want to hook these two up and at first the idea bothered me a bit because looks wise, with the dark hair, they are similar. But Bianca has those oh so dark eyes and Helena has the prettiest baby blues and sexy British accent. But, dude, they'd be perfect together! Why?
Here's why:
1. Children: Both of them have children and despite how IC has magically forgotten about Helena's, she was shown to be a very involved and devoted mother in S2 and I loved it so much. Bianca is equally devoted to Miranda and they would probably be the cutest and most fun focused pair of parents you could imagine together. Plus I think the kids would get along crazy well.
2. Histories: Both of them are crazy ass rich heiresses who grew up in a world of wealth not to be understood by normal people. They also have mother's with larger than life personalities who put expectations on them growing up whether they realized it or not. Causing both of them to feel insecure about their place in the world while all they really wanted was their mother's acceptance. Erica has become way more supportive than Peggy, I think, and also when they became more involved I can see Helena loving Erica like a second mother and really appreciating her insane ass way of protecting her family. Also, Helena could totally tell Bianca she was in prison for taking money from Catherine and Bianca wouldn't blink an eye since she's murdered someone in self defense and Erica's been in prison herself.
3. Romantic relationships: Both of them have bad luck in this department despite being super attractive and being crazy ass rich heiresses which is wrong! In the real world lesbians would crawl over broken glass to date either of them. If they were together they'd know exactly how good they'd have it and would never do anything to fuck that up because of how horrible they've had it in past relationships. Both of them fell for con artists, Lena and Dylan, who were with them just to get things and even if they did end up falling in love with their marks they did hurt both Bianca and Helena in the process. They've also been with women who string them along, Maggie and Tina, and they both really just want someone to love and share their lives with but just can't seem to find that person.
Phew! Given all those things I think Bianca and Helena could work really well as a couple. I would also have such a ball writing all the characters interacting with one another. Especially The L Word crew reacting to Helena being with Bianca who would be this celebrity figure in their eyes and to Helena is just a wonderful person she loves spending time with.
I've got the scene where The L Word gang finds out that Helena is working with Bianca in my head. They're all at Girlbar, grouped around a table and commiserating and they see Helena walk in with Bianca. Eyes go wide. Bianca goes over to the bar to get drinks and Helena goes over to the table where they all pounce on her for showing up with Bianca Montogomery, super famous lesbian daughter of Erica Kane, and Helena is baffled why they're acting this way. They point out the whole club is staring at Bianca and they pretty much are. Helena still a bit confused about Bianca's popularity and Alice explains to her like a slow child Bianca is like the tragic lesbian version of Princess Diana. Thanks to who her mother is she's American royalty and has been in the spotlight for years and everyone loves her but despite loving her they can't stop themselves from reading about all the tragic things that happen to her and gossiping about her life.
Bianca shows up and everyone at the table is different levels of smitten and celebrity induced awe around her except for Jenny who is just Jenny and doesn't give a shit about anything. Later on, once Bianca and Helena are a couple I see the traditional crazy ass Kane Thanksgiving dinner going on a roadtrip to LA where The L Word gang joins in on the insanity and it's Peggy vs. Erica because by this time Erica likes Helena and approves of her thoroughly and thinks Peggy is a bad mommy. lol. Kendall would also probably have some fun interactions with people and if Greenlee is along I could have Alice or someone think they're a couple which horrifies them.
Annnnd, now I'm done prattling off my ideas for fics. I think this fic idea would be so good too. Bianca and Helena deserve some real happiness and before Bianca got Reese I was doubting that would ever happen on the show. Helena is back with Dylan in S6 and while I like them she has that disastrous romantic history plaguing her. Mostly it would be fun to see all the characters interact. Plus Rachel Shelley is painfully pretty as Helena.
I was trying to find the ultimate clip of her from S3 where she talks to Alice during the car chase wearing the white bikini, huge white fur coat, sunglasses, and drinks champagne looking made of fucking pimptastic awesome but I failed at it. YouTube hates me or something. Here's a Helena music video displaying her fabulousness though.
This is just about Rachel Shelley being adorable but I love it too much not to link it. Ahhh, Rachel! I'm going to miss you once this cracky soap is over with. You're so pretty and funny. I hope you're in the probably lame spin off.

- That quote is sooo Frankie, I love it. Instead of mocking for lameness, I'm going to commend you for your epic awesomeness, with bonus points for the Anna Devane detection agency and including our favorite crazy couple, Ainnie (Anden? Aidnie? Heh).
But, my question is.... Who do you imagine when you think of Frankie's reconstructed face?

Oh, and if you don't want the bonus points because I committed a misnomer, that's okay--I'll give them to Aiden. :) I generally meant the super secret spy agency, by the way, I just typed out detective without thinking, it seemed appropriate to my fingers at the time. Point being, yay for her role as Frankie's spy mentor in this cracktastic world, her cameo would make my day.
Aaaand on your ETA (3rd or 4th version of it ^.^) all I can imagine is the look on Alice's face and how she would grill Helena about it later. Teeeeheee, comedy gold in the making.

Case in point, I forgot to add the idea for an AMC/L Word crossover fic I had earlier last year. I'll be editing this LJ entry shortly to include it and that fic appeals to me just as much as the Frankie one. Leaves me a little torn. lol.

Not only because of the potential for drama with the triangle and the shared history, but also, it would be fascinating to get Frankie's take on Bianca as an adult.
I've been watching some older clips of Bianca on AMC, and realizing that one of the real treats this time around is to discover Bianca as a grownup.
Reese kind of has all the cards in hand compared to Frankie though, esp. with Gabby around.

I've just edited this post to include an AMC/L Word crossover fic I had earlier last year and that one appeals to me as much as the Frankie fic does.

I think it's going to be fabulous to see their relationship during some of the more domestic moments as well as the big milestones we know about from the show.
Re: triangle story, as we're seeing in gldartt's current fic, there's inevitable heartbreak for at least one and possibly more of the three in a situation like that. I like all of them way too much to see them heartbroken. It would likely make it very hard to write. But it could be full of delicious angst and drama and passion on the way, so there's that.
I'm down with your idea of a x-over with The L Word. I've actually been thinking about what it would be like to have Bianca on The L Word just so she could get some action. I realize she just gave birth on AMC, so I'm not sure how much she's really ready for what with recuperating and not sleeping and such, but it occurred to me that Bianca and Reese's relationship on the show is mostly going to get defined by big dramatic ups and down as we saw during the Forrest fiasco while their connection as lovers totally gets downplayed. I'd actually be okay with it if it was implied that it all happened offscreen, but when the show implies it's not happening at all because of some crazy drama, it messes up the authenticity of the relationship.
Plus ER is such a hottie, I want to see her get sexed up. Is that so wrong?
Helena would totally be my choice for Bianca to hook up with also, for the reasons you outline. And I just love Rachel Shelley and her fabulous accent.
I can just see the two of them scrimmaging with their kids on the specially built basketball court in Helena's backyard. Too cute. I also love Peggy. Some Peggy/Erica smackdowns would make for good clean fun.
BTW, I've been reading your Kendall/Maggie fic. It's deliciously cracky, very funny, absolutely adorable and is giving me a new appreciation for Kendall and Erica.

The L Word crossover would be an explosion of cracky fun though. Just like that unfinished Maggie/Kendall fic. Which I felt I had to make cracky just because that's the only sort of universe where those two would ever hook up.
Peggy Peabody vs. Erica Kane would be the ultimate motherly diva smackdown and you know Alice would be watching it with intense delight and giving commentary as it goes on.

It does sound like great fun, esp. merging the two universes together. Having Bianca start a charity also makes all kinds of sense. I don't really see her as a ruthless exec, nor does it fit for her to become a stay at home mom after everything she's been exposed to in her life.

I like seeing them on my soaps but me writing one seems less fun somehow. I dunno why. lol.

I actually just posted on my neglected journal the start to a fic that I wrote off the cuff, after getting hit with a BAM/Breeze-related craving for "clandestine meetings", angsty sex, and forgotten characters.
Love the fainting!!

Like I've told the others in comments, I edited this entry to add in my idea for a AMC/L Word fic and that one appeals to me just as much. Plus I don't know if I'd actually enjoy writing a love triangle. Watching one on my tv, yes, but writing it myself? Not so sure.

I'm way excited about Elizabeth Berkley being a guestbian since one of my childhood crushes was Jessie on Saved By The Bell. Plus her and Jennifer Beals are BFF's in real life.
