Minute and tiny thoughts on the ten winners for the Eurovision Semifinals...

Russia: Dima - Never Let You Go

Lame as fuck and he has a mullet. Dear god, why?

FYR Macedonia: Elena Risteska - Ninanajna

Love the song and melody. Her show was slutty and sort of stupid though. I say it was stupid because slutty usually is entertaining and she somehow made it a tad boring. Which is stupid. Song rocks absolutely though.

Bosnia & Herzegovina: Hari Mata Hari - Layla

Pretty song but too much of a downer and lacking anything resembling a blow out performance which is pretty much key in this contest. A little dull for me.

Lithuania: LT United - We Are The Winners

Strangely, as much as I said I liked this song when I saw it performed live next to the others in the semifinals I had a very ehhhh reaction. It was shrug worthy. I don't think they deserved to continue onto the finals. Maybe because if a parody/spoof act had to go onto the finals I really fucking wanted it to be Silvia and not these guys. But whatever. They won't win, that's for sure. No matter what that song says.

Finland: Lordi - Hard Rock Revolution

Praise Jeebus! The international audience fucking saw the brilliance of this band and by some miracle one of my two favorites has gone onto the finals! I squee with joy over this. Almost makes up for the fact Silvia's not going on.

Ukraine: Tina Karol - Show Me Your Love

A lot of red in the outfits but I was strangely mesmerized by her. Honestly? I can't explain why but I fucking loved everything about this performance. I have no idea why but I do.

Ireland: Brian Kennedy - Every Song is a Cry For Love

Same fate as Bosnia & Herzegovina. Too soft and too lethargic for Eurovision's glorious glitz and bright lights.

Sweden: Carola - Invincible

She got to the finals as usual and thus her head won't explode as I had perversely hoped. She totally deserves to go to the finals though. Despite or because of being an ignorant homophobe she continued to fucking rock out the show in a typical Eurovision Queentastic way. I almost think Carola continuing to be sent to Eurovision is unfair in a way because she has an obvious control and level of comfort on that stage which the other less experienced contestants don't share. But then again, how long has it been since she won the contest? Hard to say she has an edge when you consider that. She still rocks though.

Turkey: Sibel Tüzün - Superstar

I liked this performance but I wasn't really wowed by it. Enjoyed the song quite a bit.

Armenia: - Andre - Without Your Love

How the hell did unibrow get into this contest? Disliked the performance.

RANDOM COMMENTS: Silvia's not going to the finals! I never expected her to win or to even get that far but I'm still strangely upset. What is more upsetting is the disgusting imagery of watching lame ass United Kingdom entry Dax, the amazingly pussified British rapper, perform in the finals while Silvia is missing. There is no justice.

You know Russia will win though. This because my boyfriend's boss has secret info that the whole final has been rigged by the Russian mob (he has bet LOADS on money on Russia now). The funny thing is that it could even be true. We all know that the "televotes" of most Eastern European countries are a sham. That or they must have horrible taste in music.

Anyway, my thoughts:

Russia: Dima - Never Let You Go
I kind of liked Russia's performance. Sure, the boy can not sing, but the song is kind of catchy. If you just tune him out and focus on the prettiness of the scene show, it is great. I wonder why they put the tallest ballerina in the piano though. That was a bit mean, if you ask me. This song will probably end up top five in the final. Even if the Russian mob do not break any legs.

FYR Macedonia: Elena Risteska - Ninanajna
I can see why it made it through, but I still can not get into it. I hope it grows on Saturday because FYR Macedonia has such a cool flag and such a weird country name.

Bosnia & Herzegovina: Hari Mata Hari - Layla
I am really glad this one made it into the final. If not only because I want to see those pretty white dresses the girls wore again (I want one for my wedding!). The song? I can not remember it. Etno ballad. The same as every year, Jeeves.

Lithuania: LT United - We Are The Winners
No, no and no.

Finland: Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah
It's the Arockalypse! Thank God! I <3 Lordi! I hope this song wins the entire thing. Finland deserves it.

Ukraine: Tina Karol - Show Me Your Love
Great song, great performance. You could never get me to listen to this outside of the Eurovision context, but that is what makes it wonderful. Eurovision is Eurovision!

Ireland: Brian Kennedy - Every Song is a Cry For Love
I actually gasped when they said Ireland made it. I blame it all on the Eastern European countries again. I never wanted to hear this song ever again, and now I have to. No!

Sweden: Carola - Invincible
Watching Carola perform kind of makes me cringe. The woman looks possessed and I guess that in a way she is. She truly believes that God is on her side and that she can do no wrong. Which in a way is why she is such a great artist. So yes, even if I hate her, I am happy that she made it to the final. The woman is a pro and a born entertainer. That and she can sing. I felt so sorry for the girl (another Swede!) representing Estonia though. Her voice sounded so flat after Carola's performance.

Turkey: Sibel Tüzün - Superstar
No. Simple as that.

Armenia: Andre - Without Your Love
My second gasp of the evening. I honestly thought that this sucked and that everyone else would think the same. I was willing to bet money that the last country called would have been Belgium.

My conclusion: Many voters are crazy and deaf. That or the Russian mob really is as powerful as they are made out to be. I feel so sorry for Kate Ryan though. I had her pegged as a top five in the final, and now she did not even make it through. Her performance was great, but she sounded a bit nervous vocally. Oh well. I guess that is karma for you. She should have stayed away from Mylène's Libertine. AND POLAND! I loved the Polish entry. So much. Great costumes. And how cute was the pregnant girl with the mask? Anyone that hot and pregnant should be automatically qualified for the final. I hope the baby comes out minus the green hair though. I had never seen Silvia's performance before yesterday and the audience booing only made me love her more. Ha! And her calling God was totally a dig at Carola. My heart practically swelled!

Yes, stupid voters.

The fact that Silvia got booed just made me love her more. I really don't want Dima to win... he just really fucking irritated me for some reason. I'm shocked that Kate Ryan didn't go on as well. It's just really odd. Poland was awesome as well. I'm so enamored with Lordi making it though.

Hard Rock Revolution! Hee.

Dax is so fucking bad!!!
He makes me ashamed to watch.
This is what happens when the enitre UK decides to take the piss and vote for the paedophile.
We thought it was funnier at the time.....

Dax is just... no words describe how much I dislike him. I hope he gets booed worse than Silvia because he certainly deserves it more. At least to me. lol.

I share both your voting envy and the Finland rocks attitude. Ah, I love Eurovision so. I can't fucking wait for the 20th.
