I seem to be going back to old fandom favorites for myself lately. The entire reason I love Sigourney Weaver is because of her playing Ellen Ripley in the Aliens movie series. I own the complete box set, which has some kick ass commentary, and I've gone to see all the movies in the theaters. I was lucky to see Alien and Aliens in some special midnight showings over the years.

Anyway! It might just be my fangirl crush that goes back to when I was ten but imho, Ripley is the most kick ass heroine in all of sci-fi movie existence. I really can't think of another female character which can equal her and a lot of it has to do with how well developed the characterization became over the span of the movies.

Of course, they cut out the scene with her finding out her daughter died in Aliens. That's always upset me. It was such a pivotal and sad moment to find out she literally out lived her daughter who died of old age while she was stuck out in the space boonies after fighting the aliens.

If anyone has some Ripley equivalent heroines, let me know. Maybe there's some sci-fi movies I should be watching that I haven't seen yet but I'm pretty sure no one will ever manage to top her in my mind. My love is too great. I should write fanfic for her. How cracky to write a crossover with Aliens and Star Trek Voyager for Ripley/Call and Janeway/Seven. lol. Can you even imagine the aliens invading the squeaky clean trek universe? So odd.

Try Claudia Black from Farscape (the tv series). :) Very, very good series, and a very good character. ;)
