Seriously. I love love love love horror films but can American filmmakers PLEASE stop remaking good foreign horror films already? Almost without exception they make a dumbed down shite version of an original brilliant piece of work and it's starting to seriously piss me off.

Now they've remade Let The Right One In. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Why would you do this? This is a fantastically scary and just plain chilling vampire movie (that has a genuine realism in the plot/characterization) which is hard to achieve in the age of Twilight version vampires and Hollywood decides to remake it for Americans? Blerh. Oh yes. The director of Cloverfield is responsible. This will be great. (Sarcasm.)

If you have any interest in seeing Let Me In then please please please just rent Let The Right One In. I can guarantee it's going to be far superior. Just like Rec was to Quarantine and Into The Mirror was to Mirrors. Maybe if people stop going to see them they'll stop the remakes of good foreign horror and concentrate on attempting to make some original movies of their own that are halfway decent instead of ruining good ones in existence.

Recently changed their rules so now only GLBT authors can enter to win their award. It's causing a shitstorm of wank amongst the privileged straight masses about how they're being discriminated by the mean gays who want to have this tiny little literary award for their own writers. From my tone you can guess what side I'm on.

I get some people feeling the rules should stay the same because it used to be whoever wrote the best story featuring GLBT characters and themes won the award. Didn't matter your sexuality. Now the award is exclusive for writers who are GLBT. Change sucks but really, I don't get all the massive "we're being persecuted" crap from mostly straight women who write horribly cliche bodice ripper m/m romance.

ETA: Being straight and writing gay men doing it doesn't make you an honorary gay who can speak with all knowing authority on gay people. You're fetishizing them. That's not being a fabulous supporter of GLBT rights.

I dunno why this bothers me but it does. It's nothing new but it does bug me when people post on mailing lists, boards, forums, journals, whatever dedicated to gay and lesbian couples from various fandoms and they say they support and love the couple to pieces but then they go and pimp the fact that they're Christian and they don't approve of homosexuality or gay marriage.

Sooo... why are you supporting this couple? If they were real people they'd be homosexual and you'd disapprove and not want them to get married and think they were going to burn in the eternal hellfire for the same sex lovings so why the hell do you say you like the couple if you disapprove of those things? It doesn't make sense to me at all. It's like saying you think peanut butter is evil but you're the number one poster at a board dedicated to the joys of Skippy and Jiff. How does that compute?

Plus as a lesbian it sort of pisses me off to have you and your judgment for me floating around in this forum. Sure you don't say anything homophobic because if you did you would get banned but you're posting on a board dedicated to a gay couple you most likely couldn't stand if they were real people or at least would think what they are doing is morally and intrinsically wrong.

Really I know what it's about. Secretly you think homosexuality is hot even though that makes you sort of hypocritical since you can enjoy teh hot without approving of it and refusing to let the people who identify themselves that way have equal rights. Maybe that's why it's hot? It's naughty and forbidden by your God who would smote you for doing such things but it's groovy to watch on the tv and read in the fanfics?

Either way I hate this subset of gay and lesbian fandom and wish it would vanish.

I've been neglectful in posting videos of All My Children because... erhm... I don't know. I just have. I guess I figured people didn't really care or need them anymore then I realized it's convenient for me and my god, meeeee. So I'm posting with Bianca and Reese clips from January 15 -19.

However, I won't be talking about the scenes from the show but going on yet another fandom based rant that I swear to almighty Jeebus isn't about specific people but just crap I always see happening in fandom that bums me out and makes me move onto other things.

So I'm a huge nerd, right? I have been since birth I figure. I'm not blaming my parents. I think it was genetic, like my being a big homo. Being a huge nerd I've been ensconced in fandom for years and years. Sadly, I've written fanfic since I was sixteen and dude, my early fanfic it sucked so hard. The first one was a big enough piece of shite I've had it wiped from the interwebs.

Or so I hope.
