TITLE: Bylines and Bracelets (Or How Lois Lane Fell In Love With Diana of Themyscira)
SERIES: Wonder Woman/Superman/DCU
AUTHOR: Dreiser
EMAIL: dreiser7@yahoo.com
GTALK: dreiser7
MY WEBSITE: http://www.dreiser.org/
CONTENT: One Shot. AU origins story. F/F romance. F/F sex. Lois Lane/Wonder Woman
SUMMARY: Lois Lane never believed in love at first sight but that was before Metropolis gained a Wonder Woman.
DISCLAIMER: I own nothing but my dismay at the latest revamping of the DCU.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a very alternate universe story that starts with the proposal of what if Lois Lane was a lesbian and what if Wonder Woman was Metropolis' chosen hero. It goes on from there. I hope you find my weird idea enjoyable and happy holidays!

Princess, I think you just might be the perfect date. )

I'm 9,000+ words into my Wonder Woman/Lois Lane fanfic and it's surprisingly easy considering I haven't properly plotted it out. I'm doing an alternate universe origins story mish mashing all the various plots from different comic book time periods and the DCAU. I think I should have it done by sometime next week? I need a title though.

Anyway. Here's a sneak peek )

Been watching my Justice League dvds and I have to say, my favorite thing on the series is The Question/Huntress. Sooooo awesome, you guys! I ship them super hard.

Ordered a ton of dvds from the animated DCU series because of awesome holiday sales. I'm most pleased with myself. While I do love Marvel more in terms of comic books and live action movies I can't really get into their animated series. Except 1990's X-Men that is. But I love all the DC animated shows. Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Batman: Brave & Bold, Teen Titans, etc. Really great stuff, imho.

Been trying to read Wonder Woman femslash. Katie is right to whinge. There is a severe lack of it and it baffles, honestly, because who is more femslashy than Wondey?

In my reading I found a really great series on AO3 that flips the trinity (Supes, Bats, Wondey) around. In the fic, Diana is raised by the Kents and she basically takes over Superman's role in Metropolis complete with Lois OTP romance. It's pretty fabulous and makes me want to write a fic using the concept.

Not with Diana being raised by the Kents, but instead her coming to Metropolis instead of Superman and her ostensibly being the hero of that city while Clark maybe settles in maybe Star City or Gateway City and is a more international hero (I don't really care about that though). Basically the fic would be setting up Lois as an out lesbian and Wondey as her superhero love at first sight.

It's a thought. I think I'll hold off writing anything until I watch all the Justice League and Superman dvds I ordered. I do love Lois and Diana so if I write anything I want their voices right. Of course, I can also go through Katie's extensive comic collection for that too. She's pretty into the idea of me writing this even as a one shot.

Katie is a longtime DC Comics fan. Just as much as I am for Marvel. Her big love in the DCU is the Batfamily followed closely by Wonder Woman. Anywayyyy. Today we had a Batman movie marathon with a bunch of our friends. Well, a marathon of the good movies, that is. Namely the Burton and Nolan ones along with a few of the animated specials.

Watching Batman Returns makes me nostalgic for the fucking seductive awesome of Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman. I mean, I know her origins story in the movie is completely different from the comics but damn is she made of fierce and she really sold the part. I reserve judgement on Anne Hathaway but I find it hard to believe Michelle's portrayal can ever be topped.

Evidence Follows... )

I only have Wondey icons for DC because I'm a Marvel girl through and through. Despite that I watch all comic book movies which is why I just got finished watching the Green Lantern movie and dude... DC couldn't have pooped out a more convoluted mess if they tried. It's like they made an effort to make Hal Jordan as dislikable as possible. Also, characterization seemed way off from what I know and read in the comics so that bugged me immensely. Either way, I cared so very little about what happened to Hal it wasn't even funny. The only thing I enjoyed in that movie was Sinestro.

I just... bad, man, so very bad. I hope new Superman movie redeems them and Anne Hathaway doesn't ruin Batman. In Marvel news, an expanded Avengers trailer is out and it is awesomeeee.

Eventually Steve and Tony will have to be BFFs and subtextually (if you can call it that in some comics) in love together but for now I like them snarking and as always Steve must call Tony on his bullshit. Also? I fangirl Chris Evans as Cap more than Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and I never thought that would happen but Chris is utterly perfect as Cap and I cannot deny it. I can't even say how happy I am to be proven wrong about him being good at playing that part.

Last but not least, go Cards! We're beating Brewers at the moment. I hope we keep it up. Suck it Milwaukee.

Just rewatched it with Katie and the brother. Forgot how bad January Jones really is. She's totally like someone cosplaying Emma Frost at Comic Con. Sort of sad, if she wasn't in the movie, I think I'd love everything about it.

I cannot wait. I'm going to see this tomorrow with my brother and Katie. I would've gone to a midnight show tonight but my brother really wanted to see it with me and he's wiped from studying for the bar exam so he couldn't do a midnight show.

Anyway! Here's a trailer of the awesomeness.

I'm unnaturally attached to Cap because my mom got me a subscription to the Captain America comic book when I was eight years old to encourage my interest in reading and I've been hooked ever since. I know he's not the coolest superhero but he's a good, decent, honest guy and he's somehow not boring (to me anyway) despite this and thus he's my favorite superhero and I think with how great Marvel movies have been lately (I loved Iron Man 2, Thor, and X-Men First Class) that a period piece WWII Captain America movie should kick ass.

Oh yeah! Want an ear worm? Here's one from X-Men First Class soundtrack Love Love by Take That. Which is what I'm sure I'll be feeling about Cap's movie tomorrow. So excited you guys. I cannot wait to see him throw his mighty shield.

Haha. So stupid. I fangirl so much over him.

ETA: You guyssssss! SyFy is showing the bad Captain America movies tomorrow! I don't care. I'm dvr'ing those suckers and recording them for posterity. Awesome.

ETA ETA: Just got back from seeing the movie with my brother and Katie. I loved it! Chris Evans does a perfect job and it followed comic book canon so well I couldn't be happier. Even his original not round shield costume was used! And Bucky! And Peggy Carter! And Red Skull! And Nick Fury! And you guys, don't leave the theater early! Cool shit happens after the credits. Now I'm even more excited for The Avengers. So much awesome. I love Marvel.

Dudeeeee. As much as I loved Tobey in the role (until Spiderman 3 which was horrendous) I have to say that Andrew Garfield looks the part in the new pix they released for the Spiderman reboot. Also, I'm fangirling since Gwen Stacy, who I adore, is going to be in the movie as Peter's love interest. I hated how the previous movies basically merged Gwen's personality and history with Mary Jane's. Of course, if they were going to be totally accurate Peter would be chasing after Betty Brant in high school then going for Gwen in college after he got some confidence.

Anyway! Awesome costume pix away. Peter looks so angsty. I love it. I also love how he's... I dunno, scrawny? Skinny? Peter was always a rather slim but muscular superhero and this just looks so much like him.

Katie was obsessive and wanted to listen to John from Star Clipper Comics on Max On Movies today. Because of this, she managed to call in and get free tickets to the premiere of Scott Pilgrim this Tuesday. She loves the comic and has been super excited about the movie. So yay on obsessive gf who shares some of my nerdy habits. I get to see it early because of that and her.

Avatar The Last Airbender fans should feel a small measure in comfort in the fact that just seeing M. Night Shyamalan’s name is causing audiences to laugh. And not in a good way. This is all kinds of schadenfreude, you guys.

Universal is all over the interwebs trying to remove the videos of various audiences (across the world) laughing, groaning, and generally mocking the sight of M. Night's name when they saw the trailer for Devil at Inception premieres. As for the movie itself? It could be good but I don't trust anything with his name attached to it. Last movie I liked by him was Unbreakable.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] oneiric22? You predicted it. Or did you just tell me Toph was your favorite? I finally watched all of Avatar The Last Airbender and Toph is totally my favorite too. Why is she made of so much win? It seems impossible to fit so much awesome in such a tiny girl. lol. I really hope she shows up in the spin off Legend of Korra since it takes place in the future. I mean, who else but Toph should be the Earthbending teacher? No one, that's who.

Though, I agree with some fans who say Toph should have her own Metal Kingdom and be the Metal Queen. lol. Ahhh, she's too awesome. Seriously.

ETA: This protest at Comic Con against Westboro Baptist Church is fabulous and funny.

Woooow, you guys. Seriously. Warning for Birds of Prey comic spoilers.

Is it just me or do the new Scans Daily mods seem really super hyper sensitive? They really mod the fuck out of that community.

Whitney Houston's new album, I Look To You, fills me with happy and thus I offer it for download. Tentatively knowing the dates of Wondercon 2010 (April 2-4) and thinking about the potential fun of that trip fills me with more happy. And finally, this this episode of I'm A Marvel, I'm A DC cracks me up, which is yet more happy, makes me want to buy Deadpool and Rorschach figures, and caused me to create the Rorschach icon for this post.

Rob Liefeld is doing a graphic novel series based on the Biblical Armageddon outlined in the Old Testament. Because, you know, a genius who can't draw feet is just the person we need behind the story for the end of days.

This could make All Star Batman look like John Steinbeck.

X-Men has been my favorite superhero team since I was a kid despite my massive fangirl love for Captain America and Beast defecting temporarily I love them more than even The Avengers.

I think the X-Men appeal to almost all superhero fans because everyone can relate to the feeling of being an outsider or being different. It's especially easy to relate to the X-Men since they're mutants and what makes them different is their genetics which they can't exactly change. Of course, as much as I enjoy being a big ole lesbian, dude, it would be sweet to have some bad ass mutant powers. Maybe kick ass teleportation like Blink. As much as I love Kurt I'm not digging the stinky and short range trips he has.

Anyway! In the early nineties there was a kick ass X-Men cartoon series released by Disney and it's coming out on dvd April 29, 2009 in two volumes with two discs for each volume. The title of the dvds are X-Men: Attack Of The Mutants and I'm soooo looking forward to this. The cartoon wasn't the best in terms of animation but they did a nice job with the characters and it was fairly accurate despite being played on Saturday mornings.

Plus Rogue and Storm were total love in this cartoon version. They were such an OTP it was hilarious.

I'm a comic book nerd, yes? I love comic book movies. They've gotten better and better over the years and when the holy grail of all comic book graphic novels, Watchmen, was made into a kick ass movie by Warner Bros I was most pleased. But then those bitches at Fox decided to sue since they originally had the rights for the movie and now a Judge has ruled in their favor. I have no idea what this means in terms of it's scheduled March release date but it sort of makes me hate Fox more than I did after seeing the overcrowded super villain mess that was Spiderman 3 and the catastrophic piece of crap that was X-Men 3.

Fox, stop being whiney bitches! Thank god Paramount is making Captain America and The Avengers movies.

And this has nothing to do with comics but to the people who keep PMing me asking about the new chapter of my AMC fic, it's done, I'm waiting on my beta because... you know, I like C&C from helpful people.

I know it might not seem like it these days but I'm still a huge manga nerd and today I happened upon a great Japanese web comic that was later published and is currently being made into an anime. What's the series?

Axis Powers Hetalia which is basically about various hilarious and mostly bishonen characters who embody an assortment of countries and the comic tells the story of famous events in world history through their interactions. It's really funny if you're not overly politically correct since there is a good amount of stereotyping involved. Not mean stereotyping but more like, England can't cook food stereotyping, America has a huge ego, and Russia is hella pretty but totally insane. Maybe Russia one is mean. I dunno. lol.

I love the series and have spent a few hours already reading through the scanlated comics HERE. The only thing I have to dispute is the fact that America is a bishonen guy wearing cute wire rim glasses. Dude! Come on, America is so much butcher than that.

I do love his relationship with England though. They have such an angry love. Hee. And yes, I'm already enough of a fangirl of America and England that I had to make an icon out of them fighting in disgustingly cute chibi form. America doesn't have his glasses on as he declares freedom though. I like him better that way.

I think it's the second trailer. Anyway! I know I'm on a lame watch this posting spree but dude, it's Watchmen and I'm a comic book nerd. I had to post this shit. I really can't wait to see this movie. The more clips that are revealed the more it looks like it truly will live up to the graphic novel and that has me very happy indeed since the graphic novel is one of my favorite comic book works of all time.
